RNB-125 29oz Model
-
Hi
I just stumbled on this
http://en.item.rakuten.com/fearless/bottoms-rnb-125/
29oz. man this is getting close to breaking the 30oz barrier!!! I saw a 32oz by Naked & Famous, but it seems like it's a demonstration, not commercial, model, so it doesn't count!
This one sold by Fearless (looks like RNB is the label, anyone care to say anything about this label?) is available.
HOWEVER, what the heck were they thinking doing a ZIPPER model and not a button one? They lost me on this one…

edmond on sufu got a pair of a lesser weight. I think it was 23 oz - correct me if I'm wrong. He said the denim was great, hardware was terrible and the patch is just paper. Overall, it seems he liked it for the price.
If you want some heavyweight denim for cheap.. well go for it. But you get what you pay for - in this case, feeling cool about 29 oz. Not the worst feeling in the world but in the end, all style no substance.

I totally agree with you.I kinda love my IH 634SR best of all my pants, even though it is not the HEAVIEST of them all!

Because people would break their thumbs trying to button up a pair after soaking them
Quite possible, the first couple of times I wore my SR's I had to put on a glove to button them up!

I actually bought a pair of these out of curiosity, and these are my impressions:
1. Similar to Edmond's experience with the 23 oz. version, I would say that the denim is actually very nice. These come one-washed, and even without breaking the jeans in, it is surprisingly soft and comfortable to wear. It is definitely heavier than the denim in my 634S-B or my 21 oz. Samurais, but not noticeably heavier than either a pair of raw 634SR or raw 23 oz. Studio D'Artisan jeans out of what I have to compare it to. The selvage ID is pink.
2. The hardware leaves a lot to be desired. The top button is fine, it's the same World Jeans International type that Studio D'Artisan is using on their newer zip fly models, but the rivets are horrendous. They aren't nipple rivets, they're those domed rivets like you see on Naked & Famous. They look much worse than the N&F ones, because the male part of the rivet is broken off sloppily before being hammered smooth, but they are actually riveted in tighter and better than the N&F ones. No back pocket rivets at all on this brand.
3. Unlike the 23 oz. version, the patch is leather on the 29 oz. version. Pretty decent quality, too, though I like the extra thick ones on IH jeans better.
4. The zipper is gold in color and says "YYK" on it. It's not as big and sturdy as what you used to see on the made in the USA Lucky Brand Jeans, but it is bigger and heavier than what you see on low end Levi's models. I will freely admit that I don't know jack shit about zippers at this point in time, so if anyone has any info to add, I'd greatly appreciate it.
5. The thread used in the stitching is lighter than what you normally see in 23+ oz. jeans, which makes me wonder about durability down the road. It is more along the lines of what I am used to seeing in 14 to 21 oz. jeans. One of the things that I've always liked about IH is that the stitching thread used is thicker than what you see in most brands. This Okayama Kojima brand definitely uses thinner thread than IH does.
Overall, I'm happy with these. I think they are great for the price. This Okayama Kojima brand certainly won't be my first choice going forwards, but for the price, it's actually not a bad deal.

Got both 23 and 29Oz denims. I don't feel they are too rigid to wear. Perhaps they are washed once already. The patch on my 23Oz is also leather which is same as 29Oz patch. The hammered rivets look weird but I quite like it though.
I couldn't feel any difference when wearing both 23 and 29Oz. The weights of these 23 and 29 Oz denims are almost the same (size 33). I expect 29Oz to be much heavier but they are not!! Perhaps the fits of the jeans are different. The 23Oz has darker color and red selvedge while the 29Oz has pink selvedge.
23Oz (RNB-108) left and 29Oz (RNB-125) right
Patch leathers on both RNB-108 and RNB-125. The quality of the leathers are quite average.
Twisted after first washed from factory
29 Oz top and 23 Oz bottom
Thick selvedge on 29Oz RNB-125

How do they fit compares to IH, say like a 634 ?
It's a straight cut that is wider than the 634S. It's more comparable to the 634SR cut, but might even be a little bit wider than that.

Jeans arrive today.
.Jeans feel soft and can't do the stand. Size 31, feel tight compare to 634.That sucks…
