Wallets, Chains, and Reins

Thanks! This could be the one in the picture.
Now that I think of it: the one that I found had a screw-on spiral to make sure the bottom loop stayed in place. So it's not exactly the same as in the picture. I'm gonna try and find the Phone number of the shop and see if they can point me in the right direction.

FYI I just called the shop, the keychain I saw is made by Jeff Decker.

Anyone have experience with Funny Co.? Specifically their Rider's wallets? I'm thinking about picking one up but I'm not too sure about the size. I've been carrying a small Billkirk card case for a few years now so going to a full size wallet could be quite a change….. Not to mention I've never worn a wallet chain before (I suppose I don't necessarily have to wear the chain).

They look super nice. Panchoandlefty.se has em too.
-
Yep. Really like that they have different conchos available too in case you want to pimp your wallet. Biggest concern is the size though. I wear my jeans on the slimmer side so the wallet could be awkward.

I typically use a cardholder or slim wallet. I bought a trucker wallet and it was beautiful. However the size was just too damned big for me! If i were you i would buy a cheaper one first and see if it works for you.

Thanks @Cutlasshound. By the end of yesterday I had done a pretty good job of talking myself out of it. The wallets really are a work of art but I don't think I would enjoy carrying something of that size.
On a positive note…. I guess it means I have some extra cash for when the IH fall/winter stuff hits.

Sounds like a sensible choice sir!!

@BloodnThunder I've got a Tush wallet, which is pretty chunky. I've been using it for a year or so, and not entirely settled with it.
I'd be tempted to downsize to something like a Corter Card Wallet, and then get something larger like the Travel Wallet that could hold my passport and less frequently used cards.

Thanks, @Graeme. I currently use a card wallet, which is nice and slim. But I'm kind of getting bored with the look of it. Was thinking about the Funny Co. wallet primarily because of how great the construction and all the tooling on it is. Using it, or something similar, as a separate 'travel' wallet isn't a bad idea though. I've definitely talked myself out of buying the Funny Co. to use as my daily carry, just no way I'll be able to handle the size.

I'm trying to figure out what I want next too.
The Hard Graft Credit Card and Inbound Passport wallets are another pairing.
Alternatively a Postalco Jogging or Full Moon wallet paired with the Post Card and Inner wallets.
Decisions, decisions. Probably won't happen for a while in any case, particularly as I'm terrible at making my mind up.

Been lurking for a while here haven't posted much. Almost bought a few items in classified but have been too slow.
I have been eyeing a new wallet for a while. Mine is falling apart. Cheap bonded leather.
I had a wallet with a chain and wanted another as I lost my wallet many times before the chain. So it is not just because it looks cool. Looking cool is a bonus though.
Have found a few places to get this and similiar styles. Some discussion here and also found quite a bit on your message board. The Iron Heart midlength wallet is beautiful but out of my budget.
It was close between Leather Goods Connection and Don't Moan Organize Leather until I found an individual leather maker who had a style just like I wanted. Considered natural color but decided I wanted black with contrasting stitching with barbours linen thread. Hand waxed with beeswax. He had a few options of leather and after talking with him went with Herman Oak Bridle leather. I also considered Horween but it was more expensive and the Oak sounds like a great leather also. The brass D-ring is unique as I didn't see anyone else with this exact style.
The best part is the price is very reasonable. Only took a week to get also. I like the midlength as it all fits in your pocket only the D-ring sticking out. It also has the same measurements as my old trifold wallet. 5 1/4" by 3 5/8"
If anyone is looking for a wallet, I would highly recommend this craftsman. He makes a few styles and belts also.
Here is his Tumblr page. http://blackyrock.tumblr.com/
I can give his email also if anyone wants.
Let me know what you think.Really like this and have sent them an email, thanks.

I've been experimenting with the Stocard app recently. I don't tend to carry a lot of cards, but most of them seem to be for loyalty schemes. Storing them on my phone should allow me to slim down my wallet.
The main problem is that barcode readers struggle with LCD screens, particularly the flat bed ones in a self-service checkout. However, my local supermarket has installed separate scanners in the self-checkout lanes for phones, so it'll be the lesser used cards that'll cause problems. But entering a number manually occasionally doesn't strike me as a great hardship.
I'm going to shift to Android Pay
in a few weekswhen it arrives Down Under. That will allow me to store debit and credit cards securely, along with loyalty cards. It also sends both when you make a payment, thereby saving you scanning two bits of plastic at the checkout.Apple Pay has a similar feature set. I don't know if it allows you to store and display loyalty card barcodes though.
In theory this should allow me to reduce the number of cards carried to three or four, and thus slim down my wallet significantly. I'm quite tempted by a combined card holder, coin purse and key case. Something like this one should work well.

Herz also do a key case and coin purse, but it's a different design to the Pailot River model.
There's also the Porter Yoshida 925 Key Case, which looks like a mini Red Moon wallet.

24 months / 2 years…
19 months in…
10 months in with the WC now, had the camera out, took some good snaps. It's really coming along!!!!
5 months, thought to snap a picture tonight;
My daily wallet, after 2 other wallets throughout the year, I've settled onto this for at least a year. Really like how it's progressing, now @ 3 months of daily usage;
