Watches - another OCD problem

Not the GMT Master 2 but still relevant…

I wonder if the GMT Master and Daytona are actually more available than legend would suggest. If it takes seven years to get a watch then I could see most people going elsewhere.

Rolex generally is just a great product. In my Hubble view a GMT or Submariner are as good as it gets in that price range. I have a few watches but if I could have only one and had to keep it for good I would choose a steel GMT. The steel watches are great value for money over a period of time. Generally they run for about 8-10 years before they need a service. However if used in deep water they need more regular checks.
The case work is to a very high standard and the movement is a real work horse, not a highly tuned race car. That's why it lasts for so long.
The latest watches are just getting better all the time due to more accurate machining and the modern oils used today that just don't degrade like the old ones did.
So for me a Steel sports watch will give good service over a life time of daily wear.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

@Snowy from what i realise. "luxury" import stuff in japan is rather expensive from what i've come across..

Thanks @Tempvs. I'll hopefully pick one up in a few months. They are about 15% more in Japan than list price of Sydney, which is a bit odd.
The U.K. Is one of the cheapest places to buy Rolex if your not from the UK meaning that you purchase VAT free for export. The currency is weak and you get a bit of discount. Can make for a decent deal on many watches.

Vacheron Constantin have just announced a world time version of the Overseas. More details at Hodinkee and Monochrome.
I really like the one on the left. However, I really don't like the $37,000 price tag.

VC bracelets are really beautiful. Never tried one on, so I don't know how comfortable they are, but I do love the way they look.

It's a great watch from a fantastic brand. The quality is up with the very best. It's also a very wearable watch.

I'm a fan of what Vacheron are doing, but I'm not in a position where I've got an unlimited watch buying budget.
The new Quai de l'Île is another piece that I really like, there's an article about it at Hodinkee. It's relatively affordable for a VC.
