IH-526Lod - 19oz Left-Hand Twill Selvedge Denim Type III - Indigo Overdyed Black
-
I don't really ever wear the denim tux, but this overdyed tux…...
-
This jacket looks so amazing. I already have a Samurai denim jacket, so tempted.
-
Couldn’t pass this jacket up. I don’t think I’ll need denim jackets for quite a while. 526Lod and the 526N. Both size xxxl. I’m 6’4”, 180lbs. I definitely like to be able to fit a sweatshirt under any jacket I own.
-
Just received mine and I'm mostly happy with it in terms of fit.
Mad Query - Does Alex or Giles know how the jackets are constructed in the collar area? I've noticed on the left hand collar 'point' that there is a distinctive raised 'snaking' silhouette on the left hand collar that is quite noticeable and I can't quite put my finger on why it's there. Feeling over the area there's definitely something 'trailing' underneath the fabric which makes it slightly raised, making me think there's almost like a chain of excess threading tucked inside there.
My 526SBG doesn't have it so I'm wondering if maybe it's part of the production process where excess threading from sewing the collar seams is tucked inside once completed and it is supposed to sit neatly along the inside of the seam instead of along the collar point.
EDIT: the picture makes it look like it’s faded through the dye (it won’t be, it arrived today
) but the ‘light’ outline is actually a shine from. Is this just starch from it being brand new? I’ve noticed most of the fabric is a matt finish but there are occasional parts that have a shine to them. -
So I have been wearing this everyday since I got it. This is my favorite jacket of all time. I have said that before, but this piece is a lifetime jacket for me. Works perfectly this nasty winter with my IH hoodie or flannel under to keep me plenty warm. And I know it will work great in fall and spring when it comes around. And it's breaking I'm beautifully soft.
Surprised this hasn't been shown more love.
-
I dig it

The OD’ing is a pretty aggressive process and can do weird things, irregularities are normal. I guess you can say that it’s part of the OD aesthetic. It’s an entirely different beast to the SBG or SB denims.
That shine is normal, I had it on my IH-526J-od. I don’t really understand what you mean by «snaking», unless it’s some kind of roping on the hemmed edge, which can definitely happen during the overdying.
If you haven’t heard back from G or Alex, and you’re still concerned then tag them or better yet, send an E-Mail/PM. They don’t get to read every post on here.

Can you layer under the 526Lod with a uhf? I'm comparing the measurements of the SEXIH07IIIBK with the 526Lod and anecdotally it would seem that everyone typically goes up a size with overdyed jackets. I measured my PBJ type 2 and the chest comes out to 21.5", however, I can only wear a t-shirt underneath. If you wore a uhf underneath the 526Lod do you find that it restricts movement?

The simple answer is that mysterious things happen when overdying", that's part of it's beauty and wabi sabi…
I'm incapable of writing simple answers… it consistently amazes me that you can say the same thing as me using a small fraction of the words.
90% of the finish was fine and I didn’t mind the roping effect on the edges as a result of the OD process, the jacket was returned as this mark was quite distinctive and in a ‘visible’ place (ie front of the collar) which was bugging me.
The OD process was visually nice and I’d have swapped for a different Medium 526Lod if there were any more in stock. Then again here I am eyeing up the 526Jod…..
If there’s any possibility of the forthcoming 526PJ coming in an OD variant then I’ll be in my element

Hi @gaseousclay
Bit lazy but I have this shot I did the other week with a UHF under it. I don't have it done up but I could have. It felt fine to me at the time and I think with some proper wear in it I would have felt even more comfortable. That being said I'm not bulging with muscles so anyone with a bigger physique than me might start to feel a bit stuffed in.
Hope that helps
Wearing a medium UHF and a Large 526Lod -
Thanks @Sam that helps.

It's so true. You're the Yin to Giles' Yang.

@gaseousclay I've found that with Iron Heart truckers if size up it works good with just a T underneath or a UHF. Go "normal" size and you're probably only going to be able to fit a T underneath.
-
@Jordonf9 I'm with you as well, this jacket looks fantastic.
-
I rocked the 192 under the our jacket the other day - it’s kinda snug to button (read as “impossible”) but movement in the arms and shoulders was great. I consider the tour jacket 1 size down for me anyways

Did you find your bsp type 3 to be baggy in any way? I'm assuming you sized up on that one right?
