WAYWT - Shoes/Boots Edition!

@gaseousclay I wanted to try a step up from Red Wing level footwear. I've never had a problem with them, but having held boots by viberg and lofgren it is easy to see the merits of investing the extra money. Not something I thought I would hear myself say.

Don't know if you live in the States @Stuart.T but Chris at Wesco will build any boot you like. In the UK I'd talk to Giles about Wesco

Wesco Jobmasters have a structured toe and can be ordered with a choice of safety toe boxes. Viberg’s workboot lasts (230 etc) also have a structured toe box.

@gaseousclay @steelworker @neph93 thanks for your thoughts guys. My viberg 1 of 1 engineer boots should finally be with me in a few weeks. I'm going freak them in then maybe work with Guy on another mto build. Wesco look good on some but for me they are just a bit to big alround.

@Dishelveled very nice. For me, the 3 textures was a bit too much. I think I would have liked to see all the smooth be scotch grain. Of course it’s probably not at all noticeable when wearing them.

It's so true that the little things we quibble over on photos during the buying process, get completely lost when worn in the real world–bump toes come to mind and hell wedge soles too! Think, once broken in fully the three textures would meld better.
And I like the rationale behind the makeup--each of the 3 leathers is used where their properties are best appreciated--Scotch grain for wear/abrasions, suede for comfort/flex, and calf for durability and structure.

(Earmuffs) Those acorns are sex-ay!
And I shall now mentally refer to the Div Rd newsletter as the “everything @Dishelveled now owns” email.

^^^Ending up liking them way more than I thought I would–second hand score for a song!
These Crust Horsehides are probably my favorite boot atm.

Great looking boots @Dishelveled ! I'm also loving my pair.
I'd like to keep them as close to their original light tan color as possible for as long as possible and was wondering whether lubricating the leather from the inside of the boot would help there. These are unlined, and presumably, the oil/wax should have no problem doing its job from the inside out. Ever tried that? Mine are still in break-in phase so I haven't applied anything to them yet.

Bick4 for the win on maintaining original color @motojobobo

Seriously gorgeous leather–love the marbling begining to show through.
Maybe a silicone nano spray will help maintain the original color as water will change it the most?

Should work, I think. I haven't tried it, but the logic seems sound. Trying to rub conditioner into the toe of the boot seems like it would be a huge hassle to do, though.

I'll give the 'lubricate from the inside' a try and report back when I get some results @mikebarhoot , @Dishelveled and @Chris . If that doesn't seem to work I'll order Bick4 and try it. Thanks for your comments.
