Pocketknives/Kitchen Knives/Fixed Blades

So pleased was I with my Fox Pelican that I picked up another Fox knife recently, this time a more stylish, refined bit of kit. The wooden handle is gorgeous and the blade shape and flipper action superb. Very pleased.
The Anso design element is obvious there. Reminds me of my Giant Mouse.

@SKT:
I have a few from Bob Dozier that I just can’t seem to part with.
Sod it, now I want this…....

@Giles Oh that’s a beautiful knife. Simple lines and the ergonomics are incredible. I’ve read about Bob’s design ethic and I think he prioritizes function over everything. His knives are tools that need to stay comfortable in the hand even when you use them for long stretches at a time. I think that’s a Yukon Pro Skinner. Also, referring back to the IH podcasts, I recall @neph93 saying that when he discovered Iron Heart he was like, “ this is it…this is what I’ve been looking for” (paraphrasing). And that’s how I was when I got my first Dozier knife. They suit me…as does Iron Heart

Mr. Dozier's knives are exquisite, @SKT. I've appreciated them from afar for many years while staying stuck with buying (and loving) the knifemaker whose work speaks to me much like Dozier's speaks to you: Phill Hartsfield, Sr.
For more regular use, I often like snapping up Spyderco knives. I actually just bought the larger version of the Yojimbo 2, aptly named the Yojumbo. Here it is in DLC:

I really like that one, was looking hard at the Yojimbo a while back.

@henry_david Thanks for introducing me to Phill Hartsfield’s knives, they look amazing! And that Yojumbo is wicked. I’ve always liked Spyderco knives.
@Giles I think I found the one for you! https://steeladdictionknives.com/shop/bob-dozier-k-16-yukon-pro-skinner-in-ironwood/ damned if I know how to paste a link though so hope it works

@henry_david man that "Yojumbo" is looking sleek. Are those black G10 scales?

Yeah, a sorta rough G10 to help with keeping a firm grasp on such a big blade (3.98").

I used to have a CR sebenza. I bloody loved that knife. Went to the pub one night after a day on site (where a decent knife comes in very handy) and forgot I had it in my back pocket. It was clearly visible and someone mentioned to the doorman that I had a knife. I was completely upfront and handed it over no dramas, admitted that I'd forgotten it was jn my pocket. Long story short, they 'confiscated' it (lucky them) and I promptly got barred from the pub (no drunkness or aggression). All a bit over the top really, I was extremely reasonable and apologetic, but I guess it was my bad for having it with me. So that's the story of me not buying expensive pocket knives anymore. If I can't carry it legally what's the point.

That's complete bs, @LewisStonehouse
Not only did they take it, but they barred you, too? Jesus. Sorry to hear that. I'd be bummed if I had a $$$ knife (like a CR) on me and that happened.

My latest acquisition from Shane Sibert. A new model he calls the Outlander.
[These are his photos so need to take some of my own soon.]

That's a mean looking blade, @Manticore. I happen to love the matching sheath with the red stitching.

One of those buddy, I don't mind being barred particularly, plenty of other watering holes. And I guess there is a problem with knife crime in this country. I just think it's obvious ish I'm 'not the type', but it was my bad at the end of the day. I had no good reason to have a great big locking knife in the pub, and being dosey isnt an excuse. Bit of a wounder though for sure.

Yeah, I forget that there are vastly different laws/attitudes in the UK. The US is … rather permissive both with knives and guns. I started carrying pocket knifes when I was 8/9 and flew with knives until 9/11 stopped me from continuing to do so.

We can carry knives within certain parameters (think Ive laid out the rules before chatting to you?), but a large sebenza does not fit into them unless you have good reason to carry it (for example on the way to from a construction site where we end up doing a fair bit of cutting sometimes) which I didnt in this instance. I suppose a big point on this is that it was boun
cers and not the police who took it off me. They probably should have handed it over to the police and I could have gone with my tail between my legs, explained myself and collected it (or not). No doubt one of the bouncers or the landlord has it in their pocket right now
