Well, this last week has been a good one for me. I finally have not one, but two pairs of IH-463S, and these are quite literally the best jeans I've ever owned.
I need to thank a few people - first @Appfaff for kindly offering to sell me a pair of lightly used 463S in my size. In an interesting twist, these same jeans came to Adam from @sabergirl, who has also been thoroughly helpful with my incessant fit questions. These well-traveled jeans fit like a glove, and the cut is perfect. Thanks for being so thoughtful Adam. I'll try to get some photos to share soon.
Then, the day the used pants arrived, the wonderful IHUK staff sent me an email letting me know that they'd also located a brand new pair in my size. Knowing that the 463S is a rare bird, I agreed to purchase these as well. The brand new pair arrived yesterday, and they're fantastic. It's been really interesting getting to feel a broken-in pair along side a crisp new pair in the same size and cut. The measurements are very similar, but the used pair feel remarkably different - it gives me something to look forward to as I break in 21oz denim for the first time. Of particular note is the fact that the new pair feel significantly tighter, even when the measurements aren't much different than the broken-in pair. They are a little bit snug to begin with, and I think that means that they'll be perfect (not baggy) when they stretch and break in.
Many people have commented on the "magic" cut of these jeans, and I'll add my voice to the chorus. These are special. They are a mid-rise jean, but the high rise in the back keeps your butt covered when you bend over. They easily fit over all my pull-on boots, both narrow and wider shafts. They're a perfect pairing with my growing collection of Wesco boots. The subtle taper at the knee keeps them looking trim, while the flare at the hem is subtle enough that they fit over large boots without looking like bell bottoms. For my build and tastes, these are more flattering than the 634S I tried on at Self Edge. I remember reading that the 463S is great for people who want the 634S to work for them, but don't like the roomy knee. It all makes sense now.
It's hard to explain how rare it is for me to find jeans that work this well. With size 13 feet and pull-on boots, most pants that "fit" over boots hang up where the top of my foot meets my ankle (because my feet and boots are dimensionally larger than most people my size). The jeans bunch up unless they're hemmed shorter than I like, which makes my feet look even bigger. This is why I can't do a 666 cut - I need at least 9.5" of hem width.
I hope I'm not offending anyone who loves the 634 or the 666 - I just have very specific tastes and needs, and I'm very excited to find something that works perfectly for me. If you like a boot cut jean, these are a great option.

Excellent news Jim @jimmer_5 - and how lucky of you to have two pairs!! I'm so glad you found a cut that works great for you. I too can't wait for the temps to get out of the 90s so I can rock my pair!!
-
So pleased for you @jimmer and thank you for that beautiful write up.
I picked up my w36’s yesterday and I’m overjoyed. It’s the lap of luxury but I’m happy to know that regardless of weight fluctuations, I’ll always have a pair of 463 to wear.
Maybe we need to form an occult order, like those “Brotherhood of the Bib” guys [emoji16] Suggestions for a name are welcome.

Thanks Adam! As for having two pairs - I feel a little selfish snagging both, but I intend to wear both regularly, and (unfortunately) I don't think the majority of other IH cuts will work for me. The truth is, I bought your pair assuming that getting a brand new pair would take a long time. I was pleasantly surprised that the new pair became available so quickly. I wouldn't normally buy two pairs so close together, but I'm making it work because these are so good and so hard to come by.

Neph, after our previous conversations, I really feel like this all worked out in the best possible way. Having tried these on now, I think the pair you got would have been an inch short for me. I have been meaning to write and ask how yours turned out. I'm so happy they work for you!
And you're right, the 463S appears to be a cult classic. Perhaps someone more clever than I can come up with a name.

Welcome to the 463 cut. This cut is just mega. I so happy you were able to secure 2 pairs. I have been trying to find another tag 38, but no luck so far. Enjoy them man. They definitely stand out.

Adam,
Not quite related to your name idea: I've been avoiding saying this, but my pair has been passed around so much that it reminded me of an older movie called, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants". As a younger man, I think I was forced to watch it by a girlfriend, but I've been chuckling about this all week.

Oh, I know it well! When I kicked off the 888 world tour, and had to explain the idea to my wife, she said "so like the movie?"
I said, pretty much, except they don't magically fit "everyone" lol

Reuben, your monty python inspired Mardi Gras Krewe name is superior in every way. I vote YES.
