@Tago-Mago very similar. Mine always come apart at the seam with the denim edge of the pocket.
Does this happen on all your IH jeans like it does mine? I’ve never had this issue with any other pants or jeans I’ve owned.
It seems to happen to both sides but always starts with the right pocket.
-
@Mizmazzle so far it's only happened on my first pair, 3.5 years old. I'd assume the issue may not occur on my newer pairs because I have stopped putting stuff in those pockets
-
@Tago-Mago looks like he used some fabric to create a new seam across the tear on yours.

@Tago-Mago you could also take a look at White’s when they do their fall sale. I’ve purchased a couple pair from Baker Shoe and been very happy.
I second @SKT on White’s. You can also directly order them as another option — they offer their own sitewide sale at the same time Baker’s does, usually in June around US Fathers Day and in Nov around Black Fri.

@Tago-Mago I never put stuff in my pockets. No phone or keys or anything. I do put my hands in my pockets from time to time. I do wear a ring, but this problem happened long before I got my ring. I actually almost never put my hands in my pockets not that I wear a ring because the ring is too bulky to slide into the pocket.

@Mizmazzle the guys are correct, we dont offer pocket bag replacements, just because we dont have the correct machinery or the actual pocket bags and It would take up considerable time as well for a free service, If I am able to help prolong the life and I am able to patch it up a little then I will do but its not a perfect fix, more of a "help you not to loose your change or keys" haha. but if you do ever have any questions regarding repairs please dont ever hesitate to reach out, Im always around to help.

@JoshC thanks Josh! I guess I’m really curious if this is just a “me” issue with the pockets or something that others experience regularly. I do wear my jeans pretty hard and focus on one pair consistently to wear. But I don’t put stuff in the pockets. So defies logic a bit for how I use the pockets.

@Tago-Mago check out r/pnwbootmakers on reddit too. Nicks, Wesco, franks, bakers, whites jk boots, viberg all are a great place to start
-
@Mizmazzle man that’s odd! I’ve never had this happen. Do you wear a belt? That’s just about one of the only variables I can think of that would cut into that area.
-
@popvulture I do wear a belt. But the seam of the pocket is well below the belt. I put my phone and wallet in my back pockets and never have had an issue with one of those pockets separating.
I’ve gotten pretty good at repairing the tears myself. But for the life of me can’t figure out why it keeps happening…and by the sounds of it, not much of a reoccurring issue with others.
The truly bizarre part of it is that before I discovered IH I always put my phone and keys in my front pockets. When I got into IH I didnt like the phone fades up front so I stopped putting stuff in those pockets. Never had this issue before..
-
@Mizmazzle man that’s so weird! Could just be the way your body creases at that particular place when you sit down or something? That’s the only thing I can really imagine. I don’t keep stuff in my front pockets either, save maybe a chap stick or my Subie key. No weird pocket issues to speak of.

lol whenever I do the shrug it always makes it a lady. It’s ok — I’m in touch with my feminine side!
-
@les-l can't go wrong either way. I'd do OD but that's just me
-
@Mizmazzle It has happened to me on my 666s but that is the wrong shape for my body, being a bigger lad, it didn't give me much room on the top block to get things in and out of my front pockets and having to shove my hands into the pockets which is what would probably cause it to rip over time, I have a pair of 888 and 1955's and it hasn't happen to them yet (1 and 2 years old), however because it used to happen to me all the time for me on my Nudie's when I worked there I do limit what I put in my front pockets, ( I now have the fear) I never stick my keys in the front pocket nor my wallet, as keys are the worst for causing rips and tears, I only put them in my back pocket or attach it to my belt loop.
-
@JoshC Well, let the mystery continue then....most of my cuts are the 888...and I'm a pretty slim dude so not alot of tension in that area...
@popvulture haha....that's a whole another random question topic....why does the shrug emoji always pop up as a lady when in the menu it's a man???

@Mizmazzle I'll regularly destroy pockets, but as a direct result of either the phone or keys.
In my case it seems like phone use eventually rips it at the upper seam (like pictured), while the keys tend to grind a hole in the bottom of the pocket bag.A bit of a mystery in your case, haha.
EDIT: I'll add that this isn't specific to IH jeans for me, happens to all jeans. In fact, Iron Heart pockets hold up better than most imo.
-
@JunkPants it’s odd for sure. I think putting my hands in my pockets a lot has something to do with it. But like I said, since getting this new GAH ring, I can’t slide my hand in anymore so it not doing that. Maybe over time with less hand in pocket time this will resolve. Sure seems like putting my unringed hand shouldn’t rip apart a pocket bag though.
-
@Mizmazzle you doing a lot of sassy walks?
That could put stress on the pocket bags
-
@Mizmazzle Pretty odd indeed! Time for some hand cream
