Oh, good call. I actually bookmarked that site ages ago and had completely forgotten about it. Thanks, Giles and Urb
I'd look into the airbnb in Williamsburg honestly. You could probably find entire apartments for the same price as a super small room next to stranger in the city. I live in Williamsburg and I can get to SENY faster than most people in the city. It's one train stop away.

Thanks from me too Shane, I'm going to look into Williamsburg for October on airbnb. Lando recommended them to me yesterday, and I was wondering about areas outside Manhatten

Yeah you should. Williamsburg is so easy to get into the city from and it will certainly be cheaper. One of us can give you the exact details on traveling to and from the city if you decide to stay in BK.

I know that Pam is going to ask me this question, so I have to ask you guys, is it a safe area for walking around with a 6 year old? We've been to New York many times, but always stayed in hotels, and always near Times Square (tourist mecca).

I would say it is MUCH safer than Times Square. And NYC in general is not unsafe. Pretty much the opposite of what you would think.

I'd say, as a whole, Williamsburg is more safe than Times Square. I live right on the edge of safe and possibly unsafe. And it's really only slightly sketchy super late at night. And by unsafe I mean if you're a super drunk girl stumbling around my street a bum or another drunk person might fuck with you. But that can really happen anywhere in the city. That's just my opinion.

Thanks guys, and absolutely no offence meant. If you guys were to ask me about where I lived, I would say that it is a shit hole, and you should visit somewhere (anywhere) else

Hey, no problem here. And certainly no offense taken. Fair question to ask when traveling abroad, especially with a little one. And something tells me that Tommy could kick the shit out of a good 90% of the male population in "BillyBurg", seriously!

If you need one of us to go check it out or arrange to pick up the keys before you come into town, just holler! And double check the address with Urb via PM to make sure it is easy to get to and from the subway etc.

I'd say you're pretty much good to go anywhere in Manhattan, unless you start to get to the outskirts of where "normal" people go
I'd stay away from areas like Morningside Heights, Alphabet City, The Bowery and if you can see the Hudson, we're too far from the beaten track
For the most part, unless you're out late at night, you'll be absolutely fine
-
Cheers Doug, hopefully we can meet up with you too if you're available
-
Jody likes to plan our trips based on where she wants to eat, so I should have a restaurant list of where we'll be a few weeks in advance if you guys would like to join us
