IH-707 - Mercerised Cotton Chino Pants

I've been wearing my pair at work five days a week for a year or so, they're pretty great. Has anyone had a crotch repair done on theirs? If so, who did the work?
Did you hem em or do you cuff?

@Anesthetist I had them hemmed here in town.
@madmonday I'll try to get some pics up tonight. Basically I have a small hole in my crotch (that's what she said) and some wear/damage at the hem.Edit: Are you asking for fit pics or pics of the damage? Fit pics might take a couple days.
-
I'll take whatever I can get. fitflicks cause I like them or shots of the chinos so I can see how the fabric stands up to wear.
-
I hope this helps - quick out of bed shots, size 34. I love the fabric (as I said), but it would be awesome to hear about stretch & shrinkage. The waist should not shrink much more in the long run, would be perfect if it stayed that way or even got a bit wider. Is that likely to happen?
I would also have them hemmed, but figure I need to do a soak before that to find out what the inseam will end up with.
-
Damn, seeing those makes me realize how much mine have faded. @madmonday I haven't forgotten about your pics, but it might be Thursday before I can get around to it.
-
@xtcclassic Could you please provide a short report on strech & shrinkage? Would be highly appreciated.
-
I bought mine over a year ago so my memory is pretty sketchy, and I don't think I measured them before washing anyway, but I know they didn't shrink much. And they stretch even less. Sorry I can't be more help.
-
Ok, so I think I can assume they will stay the way they are now in the long run. Thank you.
-
I did three warm - hot soaks and got but 0,5" shrinkage in the inseam. I think I'll get them hemmed now or should I have to wash them? Maybe @rocket can help?
-
did a quick meas. on my pair, shrinkage is around 0,6", after a soak and some 40C washes… @Max Power
-
Thanks a lot! Seems like I got most of the shrinkage then.
-
Not sure if this is the same material as the 710, but I got about the same amount of shrinkage (half inch) before I hemmed. Haven't noticed any further shrinkage along the way, though I hang dry now. Waist gives a little with wear, but I haven't noticed much stretch overall. (Again these are the 710s).
-
Thank you anyway!

Had a special event with out kiddos this weekend and realized after multiple "purges" of my wardrobe, I was in need of some nice, smart looking chinos. @Winchy and @Sam helped me find the perfect and, and I would say it would out perfectly. I took the "easy care, easy wear" approach and immediately gave them a cold wash and a machine dry. I got a fair amount of shrinkage out of them, and they stretched out perfectly. I was on the fence between a 36 and a 38, and since I know I didn't have to to play with soaks, I went with the 38 and machine laundered them.
Raw/Post-Shrink
Waist:39.8 / 38
Inseam: 32.75/31Yes… these measurements are correct - crazy, huh!
Anyways, I have to say these are in fact the best chinos I have ever worn. Looking forward to grabbing a pair of 711 in navy for a slightly lighter/darker alternative to these for the spring.

They look really good. Crazy amount of shrinkage, did you use a dryer too?

Thanks guys - day went well and babies didn't even cry once lol - epic win in our book haha
Max, yes I threw them in the machine dryer as well- very glad I did or Wales they would have been a bit long/baggy still. I have slowly moved towards this "easy care, easy wear" strategy and it works very well (most of he time haha)

Question: could these be hemmed with a cuff. Like slacks To "dress" them up a bit?
Dont yet know if I can wear em to the new job but denim "of any kind" is OUT. Bummer.
-
Btw. Those look spot on appfaff.
-
@mikebarhoot - I had @Winchy put a chino hem on them. I have seen people do a "slacks" hem on them and they do look good, but might take some time to settle as the fabric is quite heavy for chinos. The fist thing I thought of when I opened them was the fabric reminded me of Bill's Khakis heavy twill. I had those "slacks" hemmed with an outer cuff and they were the same way - took a bit of time and a few irons to get them to settle, but they always looked nice. The color is much less "dickies" looking in person and the sheen washed away pretty much with the wash. Probably my favorite chinos I have ever day. Wish I could get them in like 5 colors lol
