Rubicon 100% !!!

@Appfaff While I would love to get the Rubicon I am aiming for the diesel and the diesel plus the Rubicon options makes it very expensive and I typically don't like to do that because I always modify my vehicles. And I cannot justify cutting into an 80k plus Jeep
Plus, I think if I crossed into that price range for a new truck/suv I would go Ford Raptor all day long. Because it's a Raptor.
-
I ran into a member of a rather popular pop-country duo at my barbershop the other day and he had the new TRX in the parking lot. We chatted about how he liked it, and he said his Raptors have been parked since the day he got it.
With that said, I see what you mean. Even a new Rubi with a 4 banger is nearing 70K - which is bonkers.
Where do you live @GardenState ? A good friend of mine is the GM at a Jeep/Ram dealership - if there is a spec that I can help you find, for a good price, just holler at me.
-
@Appfaff Hey App! Yeah 70k is ridiculous for any four cylinder engine. I’m not about that. I’m not an engine elitist I’ve had many cars with 4d, 6s and two 8s. But that Jeep 4 is probably a pig. I know the 392 is good and the turbo diesel is able to roll 35s down the highway without bogging or slowing.
Long story short I’m in Florida. Moving back to Orlando in about two weeks. It’s been a process involving a failed move back to NJ. But the market is better in Florida right now and the missus works.
I will add I appreciate the offer and if he or she can get us a deal I will travel for a good deal. Probably looking to buy in a few weeks to a month.
-
well that's convenient… I too am in Florida @GardenState
My Jeep dealer is in Alabama though, so we don't pay for the for "Beach Tax" that's placed on 4WD vehicles in florida's crazy vehicle prices.
-
Nice! Let me guess you’re in the panhandle area? I’d be willing to drive to Alabama or arrange shipping
-
correct you are.
-
@Appfaff oh damn you're in the panhandle? For some reason I thought you were way more south. My parents live in Fairhope, AL, so similar world.

Lol we just sold our Fairhope house in December (we had a place downtown on School Street)- we lived on the Eastern shore for 10 years!!
We moved here in 2019 for a job opportunity after I traded in my shares of our CrossFit gym in Daphne.

Ha!!! That’s wild! I’m originally from MS but my parents moved there around 2013. It’s a pretty place!
-
Very pretty place indeed. We loved being there - lots of memories for sure.

Well shit, we'll have to grab a coffee or something next time I'm down that way. God knows I'll want a break from my parents at some point
-
Heck yeah! I’m only 2 hours away, so holler!

Added a James Baroud tent, tunnel, awning, and awning walls to my FJ. Still waiting on a couple of other pieces of gear to more or less complete the build.

For whatever reason, I am pretty into the old Volvo 240s. Maybe its because my dad had a lot of them when I was young, or the fact one was my first car, or the fact that they're quite literally, just a car with not a whole lot of electronics. Anyways, a friend of a friend was selling her 1992 Volvo 240 wagon, and today I picked it up. Needs some light maintenance, but other than that, its pretty damn solid.
In one of the photos you can see our other wagon, however it won't be with us longer as it is super rusty and is suited for a better life in Ohio. Our 88 240 sedan is at my dads, but hopefully before the gold wagon is sold we can manage to get a photo of all 3 together.
-
@sethatwork great cars, my first was a beige ‘84 240 sedan in 2000, drove it until it was up over 250k miles. How many miles have yours done?
-
@QuantumMechanic that is fucking sick. Kudos, I know you'll have amazing adventures in that FJ!
