Lone Wolf Boots (Sugar Cane)
-
as a newbie on the site looking through the footwear section does anyone have a pair of these as the best place seems to be RAUKATEN ? ,but i would have to import theses from japan ,never having imported anything i dont know what the final price would be .
i spoke to the guys at peggs and son in brighton and they said the final price is allmost double .
sorry if this seems a dumb question ,go easy on me im new here

From my experiences with Rakuten, you'll always get the goods, often slower. Language is often a little difficult. Total price usually ends up +/- a handful of dollars from RRP from a western vendor. It's also impossible to return or exchange, meaning you'll be reselling at a loss if you size wrong.
This applies to anything from Rakuten, not just boots.

I find everything I order from Japan is cheaper to a lot cheaper than buying from local vendors.
Snowy is right with the exchange policy. Not all shops offer this and if they do you have to pay for shipping. What you see on Rakuten is what you pay +shipping, +variations in exchange rates, +customs (depends on your country, check with your local legislation).
My conclusion: if you are completely sure what you need, buying directly from Japan is a good alternative.

to be honest id rather buy locall or in the usa when im there next year (seattle ,portland ,montana etc) but i cant find them in the uk
-
you hardly will find them in the US either. Might be lucky as Self Edge (Portland) carries SugarCane but AFAIK they don't carry Lone Wolf boots

On rakuten in general…
I think buying from there really depends on where you live. Living in California means that shipping for me is generally $20 and for some reason I never get hit with customs. As a result, especially when the yen is low, I can get things for way way cheaper. Like 100 dollars cheaper most of the time. It also comes pretty fast (3 or 4 days)
If you live in Europe then things get trickier. Shipping will definitely cost more and when you factor in their nazi customs policies you might not even end up ahead.
But if you can get it in Japan and you can't find any other vendors that sell it stateside (if you want to pay double like you said) then definitely get it on rakuten.

im wondering is it worth me going to japan and buying a load of stuff as importing from there will probably be to expensive ,if not ill look for a pair of thorogoods
-
Where are you located? I really doubt that it'd be more than 100 including shipping etc…
-
located in the uk (essex area) the only worry for me is sizing as i went to try on another pair of red wing last saturday the 8 lace moc toe and found them really hard to get on in my size ,where as my 877 ones in the same size fits easy .

Hi Dave, I'm looking at stocking Lonewolf seasonally towards the end of next year in the UK, too far off for you I'm sure so you might want to contact the UK Sugar Cane distributor (follow through the website), friendly guy and could help you with sizing and a one off pair maybe. I don't know how the sizing works out yet so wouldn't want to advise.
Good luck.

thanks eastwest i wont be buying them at the moment so i can wait i could even be your first customer ,do you have the website or link for the sugarcane distributaor by chance ?

almost went ahead and copped a pair of these lw carpenter boots today.
i was after the brown but they only had the black pair in stock…wasn't too sure about the silver eyelets on the all black pair. a bit too much contrast imo so i passed -.-they fit a tad larger as your standard pair of boots (red wing for example). still i would take the same size in both though!

And I like the brown better
