IH-777S-21 - Super-Slim Tapered 21oz Indigo Selvedge Jean - VERSION 1
-
@Yury Many thanks.
-
I know I've asked about this topic before.. When is 777-SII due, any estimate?
-
Not for ages (6 or so months probably). I need to get the cut right in the 21oz selvedge first and I have not initiated that run yet…..
Okay, thanks for the info. That sounds like a plan.

@Giles May I propose my thoughts on the upcoming improvements on the 777-cut? You're planning to lower the rise and my concern is that this is against IH's own philosophy because those jeans that barely cover the butt are only today's fashion and IH doesn't follow and doesn't have to (this is the greatest part of it). Additionally it'd be very odd to see someone with such a cut and an IH-patch on it. The other tweaks are great (the bigger thigh and the slightly smaller hem) but only as long as the rear rise stays in fashionless / comfortable regions to guarantee it will be a classic shape in 20 years.

I respectfully disagreed. For me as a middle aged man with no arse, its not.about fashion but all about comfort.
Both of my pairs of IH in 666s & BB 31/32 have rear rises of 15"+ and it gives me a saggy behind as rise is too high for my frame, the jeans fit great everywhere else though.
I'm sure a small reduction isnt going amount to us seeing everyones underwear. -
I hear you, but if it was against Haraki's philosophy I can 100% assure you it would not be being done…..H and I know we need to differentiate it from the 555.
Other views?
The 555 is great, it'd be even greater with a more fitted top-block, roomier thighs and the same small hem = this is what the 777 is about (right?). I was just a bit scared of the lower rise (the front one is good but the rear one :-).
-
For me the 555 reigns supreme….probs because I downsize end stretch the waist.... the top block is spot on, on me.
The trip 7's look intriguing .....except for the hemmmm....we are all different....kudos for the different cuts
-
Call me crazy but I like the measurements where they are now, at least in my size range (normally 33, but I'd take a 34 in these). When I look at measurements for the 555 and 666 in these sizes, they don't seem all that similar to me. As for the rise, I wouldn't lower it by more than 1 cm. The thigh, knee, and hem measurements seem perfect as is. If you increase the thigh measurement and decrease the hem measurement, that's when it starts looking like the 555 IMHO.
Here we go with the "ask a hundred assholes, get 101 opinions" conundrum.
-
It's been a while since you had to use that, G!..
I agree with xtc though: love the measurements on this pair, but completely understand the need for a substantial difference with eg. the 555 series…
I think this is a good way to reach a whole new spectrum of potential customers... On a private forum I attend, many people said these would be their first pair of IHs...
And cause I'm not some selfish snob, I can only say the more people wear IH, the merrier...
-
Throwing 2 cents into the well. Wouldn't mind a rise of 9.5 in a size 32 on this fit. Everything else is pretty great. I can understand the votes for bigger thighs but I like the current measurements; I'd just increase the knee 1/2cm.
Anyway, that IH has an active dialogue with it's customers about its product is one of several things that will keep me coming back. You know what you're doing Giles, cheers!

Can't wait to see the next batch and fit, well and other denim too
Everyone wants their perfect fit, but it is trying to find that perfect in between for everyone. I think all looks good fit wise, just a little smaller hem. 8-8.25" hem with a 37.5" or so waist=glorious!
So how long till we see a nice unsanforized, or possibly even a loomstate 777?
Keep up the good work.
