White's Boots
-
When I spoke to Baker's I asked what the difference between Classic Brown and British Tan. Basically the answer was that you'd be hard pressed to see the difference side by side.
I've always assumed they were the same.
To me it does seem CXL like, in that you can get the color to change by pressing a finger from the inside. Hopefully it's not as scratch prone, as that's the what had me sell off my CXL boots.

Thank you. That is really a great shade of brown.. I also like how it is not as dark as the oil/smooth brown.

So, I'm thinking of finally getting me some White's. I want rough out Oxfords with Vibram sole, so I'm thinking of the bakers Oxfords (http://www.bakershoe.com/product/bakers-oxford-whites-boots). I know that sizing questions suck, but am unsure which size to get. I'm a US 10,5 in RW and 10 in Viberg (although the Hiker in 10 runs pretty small). Does anybody know wether the Oxford runs the same as the other Whites?

Max,
I have lots of White's and also have the Oxfords you are interested in. I wear 12 in Viberg and a size 13 in White's. I am a 12 in Redwing's…they seem to fit huge. The oxfords are fantastic shoes. I recommend them with a soft toe...looks much better I think. The shape of the toe is very broad and clunky and the soft toe mitigates that some.
Going up a half size from Viberg might work also but I like my shoes roomy for thick socks. -
Thanks for the reply, mate! I like them exactly because of the bulky toe - you know I dislike flat toes, that's why I love the 1950 Service boot so much. I need a comfy Oxford for hotter days when I don't want to sweat in boots, but they should look like boots, not too dressy.
I think I'll size up 0,5 from my Viberg size (which would be my RW size then).
Another question: I came across These two pairs - The one with red dog has another layer between the sole and the shoe, right? Would it make sense to get that or just look stupid on Oxfords? I kinda like the look on the high boots.
As the Vibram sole might wear off pretty fast, the extra layer might help retain the "mad max" vibe that I like for a while.

Always loved those boots

Yes, those and the Viberg Scout Boots.

I have no experience with the Oxfords, but here are some sizes from me. The Viberg 2030 in 10 feel slightly more snug than the White's SD in 10D.
-Red Wing Beckman (9016) 10D
-Red Wing Iron Ranger (8111) 10.5D
-Red Wing 1907 10.5D
-Allen Edmonds Strand 10.5D
-White's Semi-Dress 10D
-Wesco/IH 1930's Engineer 10.5D
-Viberg 2030 10I personally like the look of the oxfords without the extra layer, but only by a little bit.

Thank you!

Hi Max, that's your midsole (the colouring) which you will have regardless of choice for the welt to attach to and make them re-soleable. It does look more pronounced in the boot shot, maybe an edge colour thing or possible to ask for a thinner midsole but you'll get it either way, just ask for natural edged if you want it less visible.

Thanks for the information, much appreciated! Now I can hardly hold myself back from ordering them…
-
Thank you .- this is what I'll try. Might just place my order today, can't wait to get them.
-
And I ordered them. Let's hope that they fit - the weak Euro isn't making it easier right now.
-
I can't wait to see yours @Max Power - I've been curious about this model but you very rarely hear about or see them on the forums - have you decided on the makeup other than roughout uppers?
And maybe @khaki8 will throw up some pics of his??
-
I orderd them in distressed roughout - and they were in stock! So i might have them in 2 weeks.

Some days via FedEx.
