I am in the market for a pair of these and I was told by a friend that they may fit funny considering my height. I am 6'1, 170 lbs anywhere from a 32-34 in IH and a solid 32 almost everywhere else. Any people around same height/stature? I was told the straps aren't long enough and it causes the crotch to ride high. Is this the case? Does he just have an older pair maybe? I measured out 37 inches across waist, should I go for the 32? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

unfortunately you might be right @tody who is about the same height made a funny experience

I’ve had these overalls for almost a month now and thought I’d give you my initial impressions and mini review. Overall, I really like this pair of bibs. I’ve been a long time user of Carhartt overalls and workwear, so I’ll be using them as a reference…
I looked high and low for a pair of 34, but they were sold out everywhere. By chance a pair in my size got posted on the IHUK website and was quick enough to snag them. Although I have a pair of 822 and saw these overalls in person while at the Hachioji shop back in January (they didn’t have my size in stock), I was still a bit surprised by the heft of the bag when they arrived in the mail. It almost feels like you are putting on a piece of armour. The denim (like the 822) is incredibly soft and once on, feels much lighter than they actually are.
The fit is very good with no restriction of movement. I usually wear my Carhartt bibs a little looser, so the 805s have a more fitted look in comparison. I had a couple of inches taken off the hem when I ordered them, which still gives enough material to cuff them. I’m 5’11” , 175lbs and the shoulder straps are pretty much fully extended. I don’t mind as long as they fit me properly, but someone a little taller might run into problems in regards to sizing. With that said, the bib part in the front is shorter than I’m used to and the strap buttons fall exactly where my nipples are. No problems yet so far, but takes a bit of getting used to.
Pockets ~ the 2 rear pockets are excellent and I can easily fit a pair of gloves in them when needed. I wish the 2 front pockets were a little deeper, or at least as deep as the 822 or 634 jeans I have. I’m a little leary of putting my pocket knife in them as I write this and hopefully get more comfortable doing so in the future. The looseness of the fit and pocket depth have me worried about things falling out with getting up and down on and off my knees ~ It hasn’t happened yet though. I like the simplicity of the 2 bib pockets, but again wish they were a little deeper. I got a snap installed on one of the bib pockets thinking it would be a good secure place to put my phone. Alas my phone won’t fit in that pocket snapped up and ended up using the other bib pocket for my phone. The phone sticks out the top a bit which causes me to worry every time I bend over thinking it will fall out, but hasn’t happened yet. I really wish the side leg pocket was wider to accommodate my phone. The side leg pocket is where I typically carry my phone when wearing workwear as the phone won’t get damaged bending over or sitting down. Ideally there would be a wider side pocket on each leg in a perfect world.
With all that said, I really do enjoy wearing these overalls. The fit and material are excellent, but they won’t be replacing my main workwear just yet. I may wear them to work when I need to look like a gardener without actually having to do much gardening work and want to look clean. I usually wear through/destroy 3-4 or so pairs of Carhartts a year at work so at this price point it isn’t worth it. These are great for working around the house/yard work, riding my motorcycles, walking the dogs, or just styling around town, but they wouldn’t be my first choice right now when having to clear a ditch or grease a tractor. I’m sure they would perform great, I just don’t want to stain and destroy them so quickly.
I’ll see how they evolve over the next 8 months or so then decide if they should go into the work wear rotation next year or maybe get another pair just for work and enter a fading competition with them. I think it would be cool to see how they would fare over a year while doing garden/landscaping work.

@Denman-John great write up!

I agree on many points @Denman-John Just curious, if you 'destroy 3-4 or so pairs of Carhartts a year at work' doesn't that sum up to the price of at least one 805? I'm not doing my professional work in bibs, but when I'm working around my cottage I love to wear my 806. Since this does by far not happen every day (maybe 4-5 days a month) they last very well.

@endo This week I said to myself “fuck it” and wore the 805s to work. It was a lot easier than I imagined. I’ll put them in the work rotation and wear them on the lite days and see how long they last before becoming full on “work pants”. What I mean by that is when I start wearing a pair of pants to work, there is a period of time where I can wear them to work and also out casually. Inevitably the time come when they become full time work pants due to stains, tears, wear, etc…
These 805s are amazing bibs and I think they will last a long time with consideration. My initial thought was to wear them casually, but it makes sense now to fit them into my work rotation as well. I was hesitant at first to wear them to work due to the price point and my history with work clothes, but I still have my Carhartts for the ugly stuff. Wearing them to work will also help me break them in/fade them as they won’t be competing with my 822s as much for my casual wear time. I really like my 822s and have a hard time wearing anything else since I got them at the beginning of the year. I’m still thinking of getting another pair of overalls later this year and entering them into the Indigo Invitational next year, but let’s wait and see how this year goes…

@Denman-John that's sounds very reasonable, but even more your words speak joy and feeling good. This is the way.

A first post!
805 versus verdant brewing co
6 months of work worn most days
2 repairs
Lots of washes because I can’t seem to not plaster myself in beer or hop at least once a weekTo anyone considering these just do it, they’re beautiful. Never thought I’d be an overall guy but now I don’t want to take them off
Bought my usual waist (32) and like the fit a lot. Bit snug post wash always but they stretch to v comfortable within a day
