Ken Igari’s double midsole 9 inch rough out Boss I’m referring to
-
I remember it being said they they switched to a chestnut oil tan over what they'd been using a year or so prior.
I think you’re right. I remember seeing that somewhere too. It would make sense as the old IHxWesco packer in roughout oil tan was a deep chocolate colour, not like Giles’ new pair.

8106 my first pair of Wescos
Very comfy. And now I am 5 cm taller. :-\ -
These are nice boots! Great pick up @Eisenherz
-
Thank you very much.
It is a pity that this boots are not in continuous production.
On the other hand I never saw anyone with this boots in the wild, but I have to mention that I live in the Pampa. -
In Germany one says " in the Pampa" means in the middle of nowhere.
Now I am searching for the Wesco 38RT. (out of black horsehide) But these are way more seldom.. -

That makes more sense. I was sure you were in Deutschland, but then got confused [emoji1]

@Giles that looks like a Morrison but I’m wondering what toe shape you chose? They look great and your oil tanned leather is way different from the swatch I have. Gives me ideas…

Is the bubble toe last something only available in Japan? What is it exactly? Isn’t it really a Boss toe?

The bubble or bump toe, is the 9109 shoe last. You can have almost any boot built on it. I have a Boss on that last, I also have a Warren (Packer upper on the 9109) If you want it put it in the special instructions on a order, or message @Chris at Wesco
Edit: the 8106 (Warren) pictured above is built on the 9109 last

It’s a set of Boss lasts with variated toe shape. There is a story as to how it happened. I can’t remember it I’m afraid, but in short you have what is now the standard Boss last, and a set of Boss lasts with the bump toe, with another lot number as @jdl1279 says.

Someone from Wesco Japan must have read the replies. Apparently there is 6 last styles. ???

Six you say? I guess they would be the following:
MP
Morrison (Western)
«Narrow» (MP variation)
Boss
Bump toe (Boss variation)
HarnessIt doesn’t help, but Wesco Japan has different names for some lasts/toe styles than the ones used by Wesco USA.

Been working on my deck project in some ancient SRs and my custom Lace Ups. I swear, aside from the toes wearing down kinda fast when kneeling, suede is an idea fabric for working in dirt, sand and sawdust. Just let them dry, brush with a suede brush, and good as new.
After a few weekends of work, gave the smooth out sections and mid soles a little oil too.
