IH-888S-21 - 21oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo

I don’t personally own the 18Oz but from what I see on the pictures it looks considerably different than the 21Oz.
From what I experienced, 21Oz shows less contrast and less “inky” blues. It’s a bit more muted, more “vintage”. That’s how I would describe it..Your 18Oz remind me more of what I see on my UHRs
Here’s two more recent pics that show the character of the 21Oz quite well imo.
But of course it also depends on how you wear them and what your washing routine is21Oz after 300+ wear days and 10+ machine washes
next to my UHRs

@weftyarn Thanx for your prompt reply. Your description turned out to be quite close to my suspicions and your pics confirmed it even more
At least now I know which pictures were lying me and which told me the naked truth.
As to the way of wearing/washing habits it's all understandable, the question was about colour/tones/hues and you've answered it quite clear. Thanx again

You’re welcome @Yoprst glad I could help!
-
@weftyarn they look so incredibly soft!
-
they are!
-
Beautiful! Can’t wait to have a super broken in pair like that. Work in progress.
-
Hey Fellas, trying to decide the inseam length to hem these 888s to. Are you seeing the length shrink with wear and washes?
-
@Transporter this denim is sanforized and one-washed - little to no shrinkage to be expected. I would anticipate 0.5" of stacking behind the knees

Hey all. I just bought some 888s and they're my first pair of Iron Hearts. I'm not entirely sold on the fit, but it may be because I'm coming from some slimmer Naked and Famous Weird Guys. Jeans almost always seem to sit a bit lower on me, and I have wider hips which means the waist ends up a bit loose. These are size 38, are comfortable all over, but they just seem to have some excess room up top. Would it be best to go a size down, or is there another cut that may work best? I'm 6'1" 210 lbs for reference. Thanks!
-
@Kdub780 you could get away with a size down but think these look great on you (excess room described is not at all coming off as sloppy). Sounds like your biggest holdup is the higher rise. If you are looking for taper in a lower rise/less room in the top block, take a look at the 777 measurements.
-
@Kdub780 If I was in your shoes I would refrain from choosing tapered cuts as they will visually increase disproportion between the top block and the bellow knee part. I would go for 634 cut as being the most overall balanced one in all respects. Once again it's just my humble opinion which is extremely subjective.
-
@Kdub780 if you’re happy then this is the way to go! 888 csn be worn in a size down for a more slimmer fit ot tts for a more relaxed fit where this cut is especially for peeps with big engine tighs. Overall the fit looks good and like you said comfortable:) so if this was what you’re after your good to go but know that the 21oz will stretch a bit in the waist. If you’re not convinced if this is what you’re after then i would strongly suggest you grab your naked and famous and measure up those bad boys and compare those measurements with different cuts. I’ve tried all the cuts and mostly the 555 and 888 cause I’ve thought that a high rise was what i was after and now my favo cut is the 777. I hope you’ll find the right one for you and if you’re in doubt email the guys from IHUK cause they’re the best in what they do! Cheers!
-
@Kdub780 hi, the 888 have the characteristic of having a lot of space in the upper block and tapered in the leg, the 777 have a low waist and the leg quite similar to the 888, perhaps it would be the cut most similar to the ones you are used to... it's a question of tastes and sizes, maybe if you measure a pair of jeans that you like and compare the results to the tables on the website you will find the one you like best. However, that pair of 888s looks very good on you.
-
I would argue the common opinion that 888 cut is designed for the huge thighs of bodybuilders and weightlifters. And I actually did it here https://www.ironheart.co.uk/forum//post/799257
It all depends on the proportions of the body. In order for jeans to look harmonious on you, you need to take these proportions into account instead of going against the сurrent based on your desires -
Were those a little challenging to button up initially? If they fit perfectly in the waist immediately, you may want to go down a size. I found that my pair of these were quite snug initially and then stretched out a solid inch in the waist after 5-10 wears. Fit perfectly now.
It doesn’t look like the size down would cause problems elsewhere, either.
-
@drewfonse No, the waist was about perfect to start. My mistake for not looking into how much the 21 oz stretches.
@flannel-slut @Yoprst @Heavy_blue @Luijim78 @tody thanks a lot for the input. I'll try to trade for a size down, or try out the 634 or 666.
-
@Kdub780 It's not about waist stretch. If the waist stretched a whole lot it only suggests that it was at least too snug for the actual waist measurement and stretched that way due to excessive tension applied as it doesn't stretch by itself on it's own. For the body proportions you currently have you will always have dilemma with 888 cut - the waist accomodated would mean lots of room bellow it and the other way around

Back in the OG while the SBGs hang in the sun to dry after their first wash.
This is hands down my favorite pair of jeans.
