IH-634-XHSib - 25oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo/Black

why don’t you wait for the new 634 21oz ib ?
maybe sizing is better for you and more wearable at you weather conditions -
I'd rather have the XHS I think, just prefer the way it fades and its overall crispier texture. To be honest, when it's summer in Austin, 21oz feels just as hot as the XHS. Maybe a little more comfortable but not much.
I do love the 21oz though and am psyched to see how the 21ib fades.

XHS is king

I wait for the new 21oz ib , if I understood it right than it is a new 21 oz denim. so I’m pretty excited how
it will be. And if size will not be optimal I’ll go for XHS next winter.
XHS is absolutly great ! -
I have a general 634 question that I wonder if someone can help me with, or if it's just a fluke.
This fit has been pretty enticing to me — I love my go-to 666, but the little bit of extra room seems really nice. That said, the only ones I've tried have been 634N, and there was one weird thing that just wasn't working for me. The first pair was too small in all directions in terms of the top block, especially in the seat, so I sent it back for the next size up. In these, everything was great, but — I'll be blunt — they just really rode up my ass, like a weird wedgie thing was happening.
So that's my question — could it have been just a fluke with the pairs I tried, or are 634s more snug in the seat than 666? All logic had pointed me to think that they'd be overall much looser all around in the top block, but now I wonder if that's the case.
Basically I really want a pair of XHSib, but I'm debating just getting some 666 while they're still available, if the 634s maybe just aren't for me.

@Dmart thank you! That's super helpful — I wondered if that part would stretch out with wear. I'm really into the idea of making the 634s work, just to mix up the fits a little.
-
@popvolture. Are you planning to get the 634's the same tag size that you wear in the 666 cut?
-
@yannis the charts are a little different, so I'll size up. I'm a 33 in the 666, based on the waist measurement being around 34.5, which is what I typically aim for. I'll probably ask for them to see if there's a pair of 34s that has an actual waist of closer to 35", because my 666s are a little bit tight in the waist and the XHS isn't as stretchy as some of the other denims (21oz comes to mind in particular).
Basically per @neph93 's recommendation, I'm banking on these to come back to that 35" once I've gotten the shrink out and worn them enough to stretch em back.
-
From my experience the 634 is definitely roomier than a 666 of the same tag size. Go by the waiste measurement. If the waist fits you will not have a problem anywhere else. As far as XHS goes the posted measurements are probably what you are going to end with after the initial shrinkage from soaking and the stretching that will happen from wear. Personally i cannot wear a 666 the same tag size as 634. I have to go a size up on the 666 and in some models even more. There is a big difference in the thigh measurement between those 2 cuts.

Thanks @yannis ! This all makes sense
Wearing my 666XHS now — the thighs are fine but I'd enjoy a little more room, that's for sure.

@Alex have these been scooched due to the inbound 21ib, or are they still expected sometime soon?
-
Awesome, man — much appreciated!

@SEAK Kid - great shots & wabi shirt. the 68 might be my favorite

I got my new pants today and I am so geeked to have them. I feel like I made the right choice because these might be my last jeans I get to wear for a long time or ever. Thanks a lot to @Ross for gettingy my order together and to everyone who chipped in buying me that stuff a couple months ago. I returned the Good Art silver and olive shirt so I was able to get these for almost free. I can't tell you how grateful I am to have a new pair of XHS. This is my umpteenth pair of XHS but I am still blow away by how shiny, soft, stiff, and thick they are.
To the uninitiated, you can see how smooth and shiny the denim is compared to the rough and hairy 19 oz Left Hand Twill
I wanted to do something different for this pair and be able to visually represent how much they shrink from their raw state to the finished (shrunken) product. So I got an old piece of Christmas wrapping paper that was wide enough and traced the silhouette of the raw jeans on the paper. This way I will be able to see how much they shrink with each soak.
I'm soaking them in my new soaking tub with the piece of wood to keep the patch above water.
I was careful to leave about a three inch buffer so the capillary action won't reach the patch over about an hour soak. I will probably dry them on the box fans like I usually do.
The water temperature is about 140°F as hot as tap water can get plus a kettle full of boiling water.
I will update the forum when I am done with the soaking and drying in about two days.
