IHVB-01 - Iron Heart/Viberg Indigo and black Scout Boot

I know these are bomb proof I'm sure, but applying Obenaufs LP to the water buffalo will be fine right? The only reason I'm second guessing it is because of how matte black it is, I don't want a shine. Anyways, thanks in advance.
Also, just some info from Viberg, if you want to send these off to have the Portland sole put on them its $120 + shipping(they said $30 to NYC) with 3-4 weeks turn around. I asked them because I'm still not feeling the creme/white soles. I have them on some Thorogoods and I'm just not sure. :-\
Might just have it done locally.

Ha, that's funny because I had the exact same thought about putting the Portland soles on and emailed Viberg about it a few weeks ago. urbanwoodsman, do you know how to go about getting the Portland soles - and it sounds like you live in NYC, any idea where you would take them around here to get that done?
-
Ha. Are we making a project out of those boots, Shane?
Ha, well I figure I will beat the crap out of them over the next NYC Winter month and see how the soles are. If I like them by then, I'll keep them, otherwise I'm gettin them switched out.

I feel like any shoe repair store that carries Vibram can get them. They're on Vibram's website.
http://www.vibram.us/products/popup.asp?Product=1278&style=IndustryAs far as a good shoe repair shops, I'm clueless. There are so many around NYC, I just don't know who is good. I'm gonna look around. Let me know if you find anything.

The colour really grew on me. So much so that, despite my initial clamouring for the Superblack sole, I would have found it less appealing had I gone the other way.

thanks urbanwoodsman, i will let you know if i go ahead and do it.

Figured I'd post a few pics of these bad boys. Haven't seen any wear pics yet. I'll try to update every month to show the wear. Shoreman said he wore them 10 times, but they looked like they were worn maybe 4-5 times, just a few scuffs on the soles. I've worn them about 10 times already. Applied Obenaufs LP. The water buffalo interior quarter with the 21oz. denim exterior quarter really are my favorite part. It's already formed to my ankle and feels like an armor plate is wrapped around them.
Absolutely love these. Only criticism would be the amount of tongue ( ??? ). I like the height of it but the width is just too much. It bunches up a lot.
Cross section of the water buffalo, 21oz. denim and smooth calf
water buffalo interior quarter, calf interior rim, Viberg tag in one boot and Iron Heart tag in the other

Can't speak to how waterproof these are out of the box but post Obenaufs they are like little submarines. I'm in Toronto right now for the week and the weather is horrible. Steady light snow with a ton of wind. And all day today freezing rain and slush. These have conquered snow, freezing rain, puddles, salt and slush. BUT, the soles are not good for this shit. Def not a winter sole, obviously. Been slipping and sliding all day. I'm DRY though. I'll take pics later.

Taken at work the other day on the beach.
