Passthestripe here are some bars in Prenzlauer Berg (in addition to the bird):
- Wohnzimmer (Corner Helmholtzplatz/Schliemannstr.)
- Go around Helmholtzplatz and neighbouring streets to find different bars. I can recommend a Japanese sushi place if you feel up for it: Sasaya on Lychener Str.
A nice place apparently is also on Marienburger Str., Nr.10: Sorsi & Morsi (http://www.sorsiemorsi.de/sorsi.html)
This is according to the people I asked one of the places to be in Prenzlauer berg. Now for what it is worth…Hope you enjoy your trip!

Thanks dude, appreciated… only just over one week to go!
I guess there has been no news on DC4 re-opening?
-
I guess the best you can do is either emailing Daniel (contact@dc4.de) or stroll on the Torstr. between Rosa-Luxemburg Platz and Rosenthaler Platz on both sides and check the shops, if DC4 is open it will be there. This street is the new "in" place for small design or trendy shops. So you might want to check there anyway.

AWESOME NEWS!
I'll be there Saturday! (or maybe thur/fri if I am impatient)

@Lenn.DC4:
The DC4 store will re-open next week!
Well… I walked down and yes the store was open, but there is no denim to purchase yet! The gentleman I talked to explained that it would be several months until the shop was open... No new jawns for me
Other shops... nothing purchased sadly! Loads of cool boutique/capsule shops for more "design" orientated brands that were nice for a look. One thing I would mention, the staff in 14 Oz all seemed like total assholes so I was put off even looking properly in there.
Food... The Bird and Maria Bonita were the best. MB is so freaking good, shame the one annoying hipster douche who works there refuses to smile or even offer any customer service, He made my buddy so mad that he didn;t even want to go back as that asshole kid was working! Forget Dolores, it was so average this time. Take the trek up to MB and get the quesadillas, trust me.
Bars… Numerous, none really stood out. 8mm was cool, smoky as hell though. Excellent dj on the saturday night playing synthy/minimal/postpunk gear, worth the 1€ door tax.

^Think of all the money you saved… cold comfort, I know.
I live in the western parts of Berlin and will hereby make an effort to steer you away a little from those oh-so-trendy neighborhoods in Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg.
Two food offers of a very different nature around Kurfürstendamm:
For a quick but good quality eatery (if you like pasta, there's nothing else):
Anton & Konsorten, Q-Damm 212, right at the corner of Uhlandstr.
They make the pasta freshly every day, there's a choice of six or so sauces. It's served KFC style in a cardboard cup, but the quality and pricing are attractive. For high end dining:
Restaurant Balthazar - at Q-Damm 160, further up to the west, where many visitors may neglect it. This is for a splurge, for a sit-down dinner where you pay serious money, but also get really a good price/value deal. Star-style cuisine at not inexpensive, but very fair cost. Been there a few times to celebrate, and never was disappointed. And it's very informal, denim will be fine, if you don't mind some clients who are dressed less informally. For those who won't even consider it without the respective websites:

Some impressions from the new DC4 store. It was like heaven on earth for me, as i never saw that much great stuff in one Place. And, it has to be mentionened, Daniel, Andy and the crew are super nice relaxed people, that make you feel good when you spend your hard earned money. Big thumbs up - also for the nice christmas card I received.

Argh, so jealous! Hope I make it back over ASAP!

Looking for any thoughts about apartments/hotels/hostels somewhere around Rosa Luxemburg Platz.
I'm going with a large group of friends but don't think we will all stay in same place, some are in Schoenhouse Apartments and some in the Wombat Hostel.
I'd like to stay somewhere a bit nicer so feel free to throw around some idea's for that immediate area, don't want to be a train or tram ride away from the group of course so keep it with 4-5 min walk!

From Friday the 2nd November till Saturday the 3rd November my Girlfriend and I are in Berlin. We are going to visit the Gaslight Anthem show on Friday and wanna do some cool stuff on Saturday.
We still need a nice and cheap Hotel for the night and some cool tips for what we can do till we travel home.
Of course we will visit DC4!!! -
What standard of hotel are you looking at? A frugal hostel (Berlin has plenty of them) or a somewhat higher standard? Sometimes good offers can be found even in the 4 or 5 star class, since Berlin has an abundance of hotels, and if there isn't a trade fair or other big event, there are usually plenty of vacant hotel beds.
Which neighborhood do you want to stay in? Berlin is large, you know…

Ok, Wednesday 17th until SUnday 21st…. flying home on Monday.
Any good gigs/club nights folk would recommend?
I'll be at DC4 some point early on, probably early in the day so I've not had time for a few beers to encourage my shopping

Quick Q for German heads…
Going to attend the Zola Jesus gig at the Hebbel Am Ufer on the Sat 5th October, will I need a ticket in advance for this venue? Where is central for buying tickets for gigs? (Staying around Gendarmenmarkt.)
