Stuff you want to buy/dreaming of

@shubharamani:
To use LandoCal's expression, I'm sitting in a "…pool of drool" over these items :
- Schott steerhide leather jacket -- Perfecto No. 618. Gail Hawkins of schottnyc said I would need one custom made -- that even a 36 Men's would not fit me properly. Cost ? $900. She emailed me with the exact measurements I need to send her. Here's what I want :

Boot cut Iron Heart jeans : IH-9461 and IH-461S (it's OK that the smallest waist is 29, Boot Cuts are supposed to be a little looser).
-
This digital SLR Camera Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 MP :
Shub, We do both the 461S and the 9461 in 28. G

I'd just like enough money to buy whatever artwork strikes my fancy. Won't happen ever! It's like dreaming of owning a 350ft super yacht except that the art work won't depreciate like the yacht and doesn't have as direct cost of ownership.
On fairly normal things I'd like to own a Porsche 911. That one might happen some day.
I got a good anecdote to tell in this direction. My uncle used his college money to buy a used Lamborghini at age 19 or 20 or so. His father, my grandpa, was furious, of course. All the more since the Lamborghini was really unreliable and broke down all the time. At one point my uncle wanted to take his then GF now wife out for a date with the nice car and all. They got about five miles away from the house until the car broke down. His mother had to pick them up and cook dinner at home! However, he did manage to sell the Lambo with a profit and to finish his studies. He is now a Director at UBS and drives a Volkswagen Passat. Such is life.

Optimus Prime
I'm really fortunate, most of the things I want are both attainable and unnecessary. Both my girlfriend and I have good jobs with the government, so money isn't a tremendous issue for us, and we can afford some luxuries, like my fetish for knives and jeans and electronics, and her thing for shoes and kitchen gadgets

That's awesome DougNg ! I had no idea what "Optimus Prime" was so I googled it. It's a character from the Transformers franchise ? That can't be too expensive. Weren't they giving em away with McDonalds' Happy Meals ?
I'm fortunate as well, DougNg. I'm wa-ay-ay beyond basic requirements. But I'm a single-income household (in The Bay Area, no less) so I've gotta be a bit more restrained when it comes to pissin' away $$. I also have a GREAT job though, in an equally fab profession (embedded systems software). OK, maybe I'll be crying to you guys some day that I got laid off but in general, if you're good at what you do in high tech, even if your job gets "outsourced", or if your division shuts down – you'll be one of the last to get laid off and you'll find a new job quickly. [That's what I keep telling myself].

No, I meant I really want a robot from outer space
A robot from outer space is cool! If we are thinking in these categories, I'd like the machine that creates a perfect woman just the way I want her. The trials to achieve perfection will be a lot of fun. And once perfection is achieved, one could decline the flavors, so to say.
To put things into perspective, the mega-yacht is still more likely than that! ROTFL.

Wow, that would make the Veyron the best deal on the automobile market. A superlative car you can get for less than cost. It literally pays to be rich!
Seul, why do you think you are too young to pull that off. From the pics I'd guess you to be in your mid twenties. That jacket is basically the same as RAF bomber jacket. You have to think that the people who were wearing those were in their mid twenties. So you'd actually be in the ideal age range.
There was a fashion in the 80/90s for these in France. A lot of youngsters (16-24) were wearing them and it actually didn't look out of place. Except for the feeling one got that the type of guy who was wearing them was from the suburbs and was dealing drugs and mugging people to afford the jacket. So with this social connotation in mind that might be rather a problem than the age consideration. Fortunately, the memory of who was wearing them is remote now and is not in the collective conscious anyway.

I'm almost 29… I age well
The Veyron is probably the best car out there. The '08 Nissan Skyline GT-R comes close, though. Therefore my 2nd fav car haha...
Anyway, add to the list of things I want:
