just brought the samurai S0500, IH-634s-raw & IH-666Sod to my local tailor for some repairs and heming.
he/she has reinforced the crotch on the samurai and on the raws and also hemmed my 666Sod…i really love the fit now i have to say...no more cuffing and minimal stacking, feels just right imo!...
since they can´t do chainstitching, they always cut off the old/original hem and after hemming, they always sew it back on, so that you still keep the original hem/chainstitch...looks great, though i can´t cuff anymore, but that´s just fine...
DD - can´t wait for the new fitpics of your xhs´s!…wonder what they will look like!It was just a random announcement, buddy. No need to be offended. It wasn't directed to no one.
I 'spose your speaking about your intentions, so do just what you wanna do, and nevermind this ol' geezer. We've been through this before, right?
Live and learn.
Nice working week to everyone.
It´s all love buddy…!

Besides, what would the Forum be without the occasional grumpy old man comment from someone?
Not that I'm calling you old, Jack…

Just got my SG2109's back from Denim Therapy (denimtherapy.com). Had the crotch repaired and heavily reinforced, got em hemmed, and the pocket bags were more or less rebuilt. Overall I'm very happy with the work they did
I'll get pics of the work up sometime soon…

emceeQ hope you got those to them in time to get the 15% off, from the repairs you listed that had to be expensive.
if any one else uses Denim Therapy for repairs send me a pm so we can schedule or repairs to ensure we get a % off baased on their refer system. their repairs are the best i've encountered, but their customer service is a little lacking.
just sort of random but it fits here.

After 11 months of wear, my Son Cameron has managed to go through the knee of his IH-106. Thats pretty good going as it takes him about 1 month with supermarket jeans.
I'm patching it from behind with a piece of Ooe 14.5 oz denim (No. 92). This photo shows the patch being sewn on from the inside, this is hard to do on such a small pair without a free arm machine. Here I'm using a hand crank Singer 99.
I've then darned edge of the hole with a Singer 201, this should stop the hole growing. Still hard to get at both sides of it!
The new denim will show through as the warp threads wear.
Going to have to do the other knee very soon!

wow i just read all this talk about you guys tapering your jeans… i thought this was very frowned upon. anyway, regarding tapering, what do they do to your jeans? certainly they won't be selvedge as before right? do they withstand at least a legit amount of wear? has anyone had any problems with it?

Its is very frowned upon from my experience. I had my SR's tapered. I'm am a construction worker and needed the toughest jeans money could buy. At the time, it was the OG SR's. Unfortunatley they were just a little too baggy. The fit everywhere else was spot on for me as a construction worker except the legs. I posted them once a while back on sufu I believe (or it might have been here) and everyone pretty much told me I was stupid, shouldn't have bought the jeans to begin with, etc. Thus the reason the SR's I have been beating on for a few years have never been posted again.
Not sure why people have such strong feelings on what OTHERS do with their money but I guess everyone is entitled to their opinions.
That being said, my tapered SR's show 0 signs of wear in regards to structural integrity where they were cut and resewn. I was nervous when I did it but now would not hesistate to do it again after I have seen how well they held up!
