IH-527J - 21oz Denim Rider's Jacket - Indigo

Ok. I'm the guy in the pics. Thanks for the comments.
I did try the next size down (40) and it was super tight. Could barely zip it up, and movement was difficult. This one feels pretty snug, but for some reason in the pics it shows a little loose. Probably my damn gut. Anyway, I think once the jacket breaks in a bit and the fabric loosens up, it will look a bit nicer. At least with this size, I could possibly even wear a thin, light sweater underneath it. I'm also hoping to lose a few pounds, but since it fits well in the shoulders and arm length, it'll be fine. I have long arms as well. Either way, I'm really loving this jacket.

Giles, I was trying to be 'cool' and remain anonymous. lol
Nah, seriously though I'm glad to be here. Really cool crowd and I'll be posting pics periodically. -
Nixage, that looks very good. How does it fit when you lean forward and the jacket is closed, in an actual bike rider position? To me it looks a tad small for that. One should always be able to fit AT LEAST a light sweater under a jacket.
When it is closed one can see folds leading from the shoulders and under the chest to the center of the chest. That is usually not a sign of something that's too small in the gut area but something that's too small in the shoulder/upper torso area.
But the comfort of the wearer is the final criterion. Some folds might also fall out when the material loosens up. However, looking at it from the picture I would have gotten a size bigger. If you mostly wear it open and don't actually ride a bike, then the size you got is perfect, I'd say.

Thanks Till. I'm actually glad you're saying it seems small. I at first thought maybe it's a tad too big, but the next size down that I tried was really tight. The fabric from the shoulders to the chest is actually because it's so stiff right now. Chest wise I've got some breathing room. In the waist I have about an inch or so to spare, which in my mind is about right. The arms are so narrow at the shoulders that my t-shirt would bunch up when I put it on. I think this area may stretch a tiny bit though. When I'm in a biker position the bottom creases just a bit, right where my hips bend, in the belt area.
I really think the next size up would have been too big and the next size down was definitely tight enough where I would have a hard time fitting anything underneath. Although that one (smaller size 40) that I tried on was the super black which fits a tiny bit tighter I think. I had to almost hold my breath to zip it up. Damn gut.
Honestly, I think I could have gone with a size smaller but it would have needed to stretch quite a bit (loosen up), especially in the waist area. Plus movement was restricted and sleeves were shorter. When on the bike, I hate sleeves to come up. But….I don't even have a bike right now since I'm leaving for an overseas job for a year. Will get one when I get back though. Either way, I really got this jacket for the look more than for riding (shame on me).

Alright. Sounds perfect for you then.

So I kept wondering if one size smaller (L 40) wouldn't fit me any better. Last week I ordered the 40 (L) from Giles just so I could be 100% sure that I got the right size. Giles was super cool about it and today I received the jacket. I was surprised at how well it fit. I think I was judging the sizes according to the super black I tried on at Self Edge and this was my mistake. Here are the new fit pics. I'm sticking with the 40 L.
By the way, I'm 6' and 194lbs (for those how are looking at getting this jacket). I also have long arms and love the way this jacket fits.
Thanks to all again for the help. (hope these images show up)
