Fergz, HOLY SHITTT!!! Slim is who taught me how to play the harp. I grew up playing, but he used to play the bar I worked at in university all the time. He was in a band called fried okra jones with a professor of mine. I gave Slim a little cash, and some free shots of wild turkey and he walked me through some exercises, recorded me some blank cassette lessons and that's how I figured out the blues. When slim left, the band split up and a few years later, Doren, the aforementioned professor and I started doing some two man sets busking in Cambridge. When we got back to the States, we played a handful of shows. I didn't know anybody knew Watermelon Slim!!! Here's a picture of me playing harp from 3 or 4 years ago.
What a freaking small world we live in.

What a freaking small world we live in.Yo Joe! That's just incredible. I love that tune in particular and it always makes me feel better - in a grouchy kinda way - when i'm feeling less than 100%. You were taught by a master and that was so cool of him to teach you. You must be a hot harp player. I can see it in your face!
I live in Ireland so i've never had the chance to see him play live. If you bump into him again give him a pat on the back from me and line up a couple of Wild Turkeys from me. I'll pay ya when I see ya

Fergz, that's still blowing my mind. I didn't know anybody had ever heard of him outside of Oklahoma. He drives a semi, and plays the blues. It's just so crazy to me that somebody from Ireland knows his music. He used to just show up at our bar in Stillwater and hop on stage with his lap steel and start jamming. He doesn't know how to play a traditional guitar, he just tunes the lap steel by ear and starts sliding around on it. I'm still pretty floored.

Lol - well music certainly travels well if it's good shit to begin with. Dunno where i heard him first to be honest. Might have been a review, an interview or a recommendation. I'm a huge music fan and a big fan of the straight up, old time blues sound. There's somethin' about Slim that does it for me and damn i'm gonna get to see him one of these days.
Seeing as yer on the floor you might as well shake it on down, down there!
And here's a buddy of mine blues-ing it up warehouse style!
