IH-666L - The Devil's Left Hand
-
In broad brush strokes. The pure cost of making a jean comprises 3 main things.
- Where it is made. We weave the denim and make the jean in Japan - expensive.
- The quality and weight of the denim. Let's assume we always takes highest quality we can get in terms of raw material, then the weight of the denim determines cost. Heavier = more, lighter = less.
- The cost of production. The heavier the denim, the harder it is to make (and that is effectively exponential)
Is an Iron Heart 14.5oz jean going to be less than an 18oz which is less than a 21oz, which is less than a 25oz Most probably yes.
The one singular exception to this rule of thumb is the IH-634S. We make and sell so many we can pile em high and sell em "cheap".

I'd guess 405. Just a guess

So 380

Does the Left Hand weaving process affect cost? Can you do that on any old antique shuttle loom or is there something special you'd need?
I'm also interested in why the lighter material is being used for this… was there something standing in the way of doing the 18oz or 21oz backwards or was there just an interest in doing something cool with this denim?
Look at me with all the questions today.

LHT more than RHT? I don't think so.
Nothing standing in the way. But I routinely hassle Haraki and Ono for what they have squirrelled away. When I find something interesting, I try and use it.
Thanks for bringing these to the table. If I hadn't put my cash down for contest Mega Beetle Busters I'd be all over them. Edited to add that the patch is amazing.

Whoa-is this the first IH denim with visible selvedge that isn't red?
-
So ive been wearing these for around a week now and they are fantastic. The denim has a great feel and look, and the devils cut is great. Ive been letting them settle down before I got pictures up but will try to get some up tomorrow. If anyone has any questions about these feel free to ask here or pm me.
