Random Rants
-
Oh and to keep this thread on a properly ranty path, I have an HTC Thunderbolt that is pushing two years old. It has always had shamefully poor battery life, but now the battery is dying. I am now lucky to get 20 minutes of use before it shuts off. The replacement battery I ordered last week needs to get here soon.

Usually work 8:30-5 with 140 stops as ups driver, now during Christmas it's like 7:30-9pm 240 stops out in the sticks.(home after 10pm, 2 little kids) and they want you to be safe but expect you to be superman. So pissed and stressed. Merry Christmas to me.
I always figure this is a ridiculously hectic time for shippers. Mail guy showed up at 5:30 PM last week. That almost never happens. Plus, I will always get one package on a Sunday this time a year.
At least know that the people you are delivering to appreciate it!

That sounds like a tough gig. Please stay safe out there. It's a crazy time on the roads.

You're right, that is more accurate.

I love those- makes the process dead simple. If you can't even care enough to check your resume/CV for correct spelling and grammar, then you are too lazy and sloppy to hire. Straight to the rubbish bin with that one.

Truth, Chris… But to be honest the best people working with me wouldn't be able to draft up a perfect CV... Luckily we get to meet all new people face to face and have them do a test... We're on to our 6th candidate in 5 weeks as we speak... Her first day today... Have a good feeling about this'un though...
Crossing fingers and toes Giles only dreams about...

Fair enough, Seul. Back in the old days, when I was hiring people for non-desk jobs like selling shoes or making copies, I paid a lot less attention to that sort of thing. However, the last few years have been spent in fields that place an emphasis on attention to detail, effective and concise communication and the general ability to read and write well. For positions that require those skills, a typo or grammatical error basically looks like this: Don't hire me. I'm incompetent.
EDIT: Like zwer said.
