i´m really curious to find out how comfortable (or not) it is to walk with a shoe with that sole!
Since I got the tan Oxford with the ripple sole, I can tell you this:
- They are reasonably comfortable to walk on. Longer walks are no problem.
- Almost no dirt/snow/stuff sticks to it
- No lateral grip whatsoever
- On smooth surfaces you either sound like a tormented mouse or like you're wearing high heels. On hard and smooth surfaces, you get the best of both worlds: A tormented mouse wearing high heels!
- The looks are a hit or miss, take your pick.

I think the service boots are brown oil smooth:

Engineer is black CXL according to the blog entry (looks more brown to me?)

So, for those of you who are interested in this sort of thing, I just got another pair of Viberg Service boots. Here's my effort at the “pretty pictures” portion of the post:
Red Dainite sole
On the feet
A little IH love
And thanks must be given to Giles and Morgan for taking care of my order and making the entire process utterly painless from start to finish.

I agree. I love them.

Since G kindly allowed me to try on several of his Viberg's to help me figure out my size (10 E seems right), I'm now lusting after a pair of the Copper Task Smoke Jumpers…....once I had these on my feet, they just felt so good, and they look so much better in real life than in the photo's (and they look pretty good in the photo's, so that's saying something!)
Also seemed to be a perfect match for my olive 705's
