Summer- tips: I know you already know but CROSSTRAIN! Your knees and hips will love you for alternating between cycling and running.. Good luck friend and PM me what training will be like. I don't mind throwing in some time helping you tweak anything that might need it. If you got any questions bout gels, nutritional blocks, salt tabs, electrolyte tabs, sports drink, recovery socks/pants, footwear, clothing, WHATEVER…. Just shoot me a msg man! Here to help

Thanks guys. Appreciate the well wishes. Haven't finalized anything yet, but definitely cross train.

Very nice love hiking

took the blue/77-west, ascended/descended the Popolopen Torne. crossed some well kept terrain/mud. later hopped onto the AT back over the bear mountain tower back down to hessian lake. Got caught in the dark today but always glad to know i keept a head lamp stored in my race vest. ended well…... but found a little mother f_cker trying to ascend the area where i pitch my tent

Thanks guys! I'm usually out for a good 2-3hours. There are a few factors that'll effect the finishing time though…. The elevation, terrain and weather conditions.
Elevation. You might have to suck in some air.... But the summits are worth it.
Terrain. I try to run most of it but in certain areas you'll have to chug the whole way up with hands on your knees or scramble a weeee bit. Trails in NY can vary, whether it be rocky, super super smooth.... But sometimes I might have to cross a "stream" cause the bridge is out. That's where footwear comes into play. I prefer trail runners that drain water fast. Ie new balance minimus line or the new ones I acquired, la sportiva anakondas
Weather. Sunny days can be great.... But it'll effect how frequently you'd have to rehydrate and eat. Winter time is my all time favorite however. Soft snow and slush will require you to expend more energy trying to get through the area but super smooth packed snow is by far the easiest to travel through. A combination of snow packed trails and micro spikes, you'll be coasting! Plus when there is snow and you need to refill your water bottles.... Just scoop up some snow inside and you'd be good to go!
stay tuned.... planning a trip up to Mohonk/Minnewaska
