Commando sole is where it's at…
@riffblaster:
I agree. It's hard to find them in the states unfortunately. As well as Dainite soles.
Commando is better, I think. The Dainite has a nice sleek profile and feels a bit lighter and more flexible, but I've found it to be much more slippery. I'll take the chunkier look and better traction of the commando sole any day. Red Dainite looks super cool, though.

I agree Chris. I meant its hard to find cobblers in the states who carry either of them.

Fair enough. I was just offering my unsolicited opinion on the relative merits of the two soles.
I suppose the closest easily available thing to the commando sole in the US would be the Vibram 430. Not quite as nice overall, though.
EDIT: and since I brought it up, here's a visual comparison of the commando and 430 mini-vib soles.

And since this is the Tricker's thread, here's the pair I was wearing a couple of days ago

I actually am glad you shared your opinion though, it's a question I've heard a lot of people bring up before regarding which soles they want so its good to have someone with experience weigh in on it!
The vibram mini lug is a great sole that I like quite a bit, but obviously is nowhere near as aggressive as the commando. I also love the way the lugs aren't on the outside of the sole on the commando so from the side it still had a classic look.

i have a pair of black full scotch grain stows. i'll get a pic for you tomorrow.

hahaha thanks Finn! I actually resoled them with a vibram lug. they look BAD ASS

Just been stuck in Aberdeen ( UK ) for a few days trying to get to work offshore. I only had my scruffy clothes with me so decided to go shopping,….......................real shame but it had to be done
I picked up a pair of Trickers Long Wing brogue shoes in coffee colour calf leather. The shoes were made by Trickers for Kafka who are an Aberdeen based high end clothes shop.
I like the Long Wing style, quite hard to find but a classic. They will make a nice addition to the collection, I have Moulton C shade boots but this is the first pair of brogue shoes I have owned.
Excuse the poor Iphone shots, I will try and get some better pictures once back home.
