Anyone here play video games?

Maybe it's just me but I think bioshock infinite was hyped up too much. It was a good came but I had no clue that there would be no replay value…just starting the game completely over after you beat it with no upgrades, money, etc? Come on! I'm surprised no reviews really mentioned that after you beat it the first time the only thing that would really keep you coming back is DLC that you have to pay for

Seul, I'm having a similar dilemma myself with GTA V, Saints Row IV, and Killer is Dead all releasing imminently.
I also just played through Gone Home. It has some of the best story telling I've seen in game in a long time. You play as the older daughter in a family that has just come back home from a year long trip to Europe, but when you arrive the house is empty and you have to explore the house to find out why. The narrative of your family over the last year reveals itself as you make your way through the house and examine the bits and pieces of their life that are scattered around. Only real downside is it's only around a 2 hour experience…

I find it quite depressing just how much they both look like two big lumps of black plastic. What ever happened to variations in design?
The NES - Grey box
Master System - Black box
SNES - Curvy grey box
Mega Drive - Black box
N64 - Curvy black box
PS - Grey box
Saturn - Black box
PS2 - Black box
Xbox - Black box
Dreamcast - White box
Gamecube - Purple box
Wii - White box
PS3 - Black box
Xbox360 - White box
Wii U - White box
PS4 - Black box
Xbox One - Black boxI miss my Gamecube, the one colourful console in all those hardware cycles. I realise they're designed to fit in with the rest of your appliances, but really, a splash of colour would be nice.
In other news I decided to pre-order a PS4 after my 60gb PS3 re-payed my 5 years of kindness by YLODing in February, the night before MGR:Revengeance arrived
Of course I missed the cut-off for a guaranteed arrival on the release date, because ironically I was waiting until the release date was announced
The games I've ordered (Watch_Dogs and Assassin's Creed 4) should arrive on the 29th Nov. All I get for the PS4 estimate is: "we'll send you an e-mail when we know".
So I'm envisioning games, but no console.
In current-gen news: Currently playing the demo of Pupeeter to death, can't wait for the game to release. Also MGS: Legacy Collection :).
In denial about David Hayter not voicing Snake for MGS V…

Bummer. I'm holding out for a special MGSV bundle. RE: Revengeance, were you able to beat it on somebody else's system?
-
I have two PS3s, fortunately the second still works so that should tide me over until the PS4 arrives. But yes, after much swearing at the last boss I was able to beat it.

I can't believe I haven't posted in this thread before (or maybe I have and forgot). I love a huge variety of video games but I'm a big fan of anything challenging. I ended up working on speed runs (beating the game in the shortest amount of time) of Dark Souls a few months back and was able to get it down to 1h 25m. This took a considerable amount of time and it was punishing and rewarding at times… especially since this game took me around 40-60 hours to beat initially.
I have sporadically streamed on
but have recently decided to start something more consistent and organized. I'll be playing through 15 Castlevania games on stream, half of which I've never tried before. I just started #1 last night so feel free to check it out or Follow me twitch if you're as big of a f'n gaming nut as I am. -

Please let me know when you get up to SOTN, The greatest Castlevania game ever released. Only the DS games come close.
Although I do like the Lords of Shadow reboot, yet to play Mirror of Fate (waiting for the HD release on PSN).
EDIT: Never mind, just seen the stream order

MP: I pre-ordered Puppeteer although the gameplay in the demo was a bit boring I must admit. But I really want to support a studio that's doing something different with such a unique art style, especially a platformer. It's good to see something else than FPSes being released.
I loved the art style, and the narration as framing device reminded me a lot of Bastion, which I think was only released on Xbox360??
As you said, it's nice to see something different than the usual FPSs being released. Especially so late in a console's life. If only Fumito Ueda would finish The Last Guardian…
EDIT: Dammit Jestre, your twitch channel has just become my first (and probably only) bookmark on my new Mac
An emulator though, I suppose it'd take too much time and money to source the original hardware and games.
And I've just identified the track as "Vampire Killer", so familiar even in the original
I do love my Castlevania game music and game music in general.
Right, must stop raving on about Castlevania...

Thanks MP! You can also hit the Follow button on my page to know when I'm streaming. I'm going to try and keep this up almost everyday but we'll see, haha. And yes, unfortunately I need to use emulators to play these games… I pretty much only use save states for safety measures in case of an emulator or pc crash. Otherwise I'm playing the games they were meant to be played!
