bert,
wax flesh is top notch.
its incredibly thick and looks super clean.
i love it personally, super tough amazing stuff.
hit up brett or morgan to talk more about it
cheers
jesse
after shooting the NYC lookbook for Viberg in the spring Brett wanted to make me a pair of quote on quote indestructible boots which will hold up to my lifestyle and the work i do in them.
so what we ended up with was this pair of brown wax flesh boondockerish sort of things.
they have contrasting white stitching, speedloops and the rear loop to make them easier to get on and off were things i wanted to add for ease of use.
i couldn't be happier, and now after a month or so of solid use they're looking damn fine.
wax flesh is fucking amazine, it's incredible thick but the way it shows wear looks damn fine.
either way here's them on my feet while i was sitting outside the tommy hilfiger show during nyfw (new york fashion week) last week.
they're on a commando sole and have olive green (or whatever the technical term is) laces in them.
couldn't be happier, and if you're looking for a leather that is super thick and will look even better with wear look into wax flesh, i believe it's offered in black and i look forward to seeing what that's all about.
cheers,
jesse
PS for those into cameras one is the Leica Monochrom with a 50/1, one is a Leica M (240) with a 28/2 ASPH, and one's a D4 with a 28-300 (i'm selling the 28-300 and a Nikon D3 as well if anyone's interested, the lens is damn close to new i only use it sparingly during Fashion Week once I get tired of carrying around a bunch of gear, and the body has ~100,000 clicks which isn't shit on a D3, it shows heavy use as I always carry lots of bodies and they knock into one another, but it works flawlessly and I have the box, an extra battery, and all of that…)
Hey Jesse,
It's the first time i've seen wax flesh. Looks like what I've been looking for this whole time! I was tempted by some Cinnamon roughout Scout/Bobcat boots but was worried about the toughness in winter of the roughout (Mclaincausey's experiences will be interesting to follow). Could I possibly see some more shots of the wax flesh? Thanks in advance mate…killer boots. I'm starting saving. -
Anyone come across the 3sixteen collab in 9.5 or 9 let me know
They're doing another run. Should be ready in two weeks. Don't know if they're still taking deposits.

so figured i'd put this here, i have a size 11 engineer boot with a vibram 100 sole.
i've worn them a handful of times, but just tried them with winter socks and they're too damn tight like that.
anyone a 10.5 in viberg and want a killer deal?
email me - jesse@jesselirola.com to discuss, i know - this should probably go in the FS thread, but I was here perusing either way so here it is, ha.
i'm definitely going to have to order up another pair of engineers as I really dig the style.
Here's the description from morgan a while back which is dead on :
I've got a Size 11 Engineer 9" in Icy Mocha with Black Straps/Back Stay with a Vibram 100 Sole. A real shit kicker.
let me know if interested!

imo the prices are still "ok" for a pair of wonderful and super well crafted boots in horsehide leather!
if you should be at the shop one day, checking out those boots and talking to roger, freddie or any other staff from VMC in person, you won't think about the price too much, even if it should be 100-150USD more…
go there be you'll see what I'm talking about -
edit: Ha Snowy, I don't think I'll be able to wear these very often when proper summer hits!
You pay more or less the same price everywhere in the world, whether you are for example in the States, Japan or my country. Price discussions like yours is not approtiate when not knowing the full picture imho
My 2 cents
Whoa, I'm simply saying Switzerland is an expensive place to be; and I do know enough of this elusive 'picture' you speak of, I've had a chalet there for 11 years.
I'm not at all saying the price is inappropriate for VMC, that's a very, very fair price for Switzerland. I'm commenting generally on the Swiss economy.

It's a very fair price anywhere for a HH Viberg. As I said, if anyone anywhere (apart from Viberg themselves) sell below this, then they are either selling as a loss leader or are stupid. Viberg HH are expensive full stop. If I sold the HH Engineer that I am sampling, it would have to be over $1,000 and I do not have a bricks and mortar store to worry about.
