Black rough-out is so nice!
-
been meaning to post these for a bit.
they're wax flesh boondockers with speed hooks on the top and a pull loop on the back, atop a commando sole.
if you're looking for a pair to age well and stand up to abuse the wax flesh is the way to go.
here's some images:
here they are with some of the viberg beeswax blend put on them a month or so after the above images were shot.
it's not exactly the same finish as the original wax flesh but it did mask the rough out a bit and gave them some more resistance to the snow that seems to constantly be falling here in chicago.
also - here's a pair of horse engineers on the 2045 last that are currently en route, looking forward to these a bunch!
they've cat's paw soles, mccoy's roller buckles, and longer straps and a deeper gusset.
should be great, the toe's unstructured and we went with the 2045 because i had a pair of engineers which didn't fit right and we knew the 2045 worked from another pair i have on that last which are chicago tan service boots on a dianite sole with an unstructured toe. it's essentially the same boot brett has in cordovan that he had when we did their lookbook in nyc this past spring.
no better boots in my opinion.
looking forward to these engineers which should be here this week.
cheers,
jesse

Those look great Friday! Did you put any oil on them?
No treatment at all. Original condition.
-
yeah they're on the 110.
all the lasts fit me in a viberg 11 except for the engineer last, which is why we went with the 2045.
they're arriving this week, can't wait to see these fuckers.
i also sent back a pair of the blue rough out 66 hikers leffot put out a year or so ago, i wore down the christie sole so we went with the vibram 1276 i believe, which is their go to on the hikers apparently. i wanted a sole to combat winter properly, the christie (although it looks great) once it wears down a bit is absolute shit on ice and considering i live in chicago i wanted something proper. i would have gone with the ripple sole as i dig that look but that too wouldn't be all that practical in winter, and given that the hikers are thinsulate lined i think we made the right move.
i also had them swap a speed hook for the top lace ring which was on there, so really looking forward to their return.
also had a pair of oxfords i bought from leffot years ago resoled with a riplle sole, so i'm looking forward to getting plenty of use out of those come spring time. they're 3 or 4 years old at this point and wanted something to bring them back to life, the ripple should do just that.
i'll get some photos of the chicago tan service boot up at some point, it's beautiful leather which takes on a whole other color once wax is applied. i've 5 pair of vibergs and by weeks end it'll be six so my footwear addiction continues on, anyone want to buy some size 13 nike's which havent been worn in years? i thought once i switched to boots my shoe problem would end, but according to mcnairy it's not a problem at all, haa. i was shooting his show during fashion week and divulged my issues with footwear, his befuddled look made sense when he asked what the problem was with having too many pairs of shoes, ha.

@pilliowpants - yeah man, i'm here but i travel a ton for work - so drop a line and if i'm around we should grab a coffee, otherwise i'll point you in the right direction, and shit - if i have that pair of horse hide service boots when you come through i'll show them to you and maybe you'd head home with them! ha.

Ya lol. Hard to resist in person i bet. Cheers Jesse

So I'm finally getting around to posting some pics of my loden green service boots. I've had these a bit over a year, with moderate wear (1-2 times a week, roughly). Care has been minimal. Essentially, just wipe them off at the end of the day, usually with the socks I took off at the same time. One application of Bick 4 about a week ago.
They looked like this when new-
They look like this now-
