5K, 10K, half, full marathon, right? That's an interesting weekend.
-
Thanks G. Yeah Chris should be interesting. I'm not going to be pushing it. Run a couple miles take a pic with a hot princess. Few more ride a roller coaster. All in good fun.
-
5k fun run. Slow and easy.
-
It's a solid warm up. I'm waiting for your pics after the last race.
-
Yeah, it's going to be a long weekend.
-
He neglected to mention he was doing those races in a pair of Viberg's and 25oz
-
Hahaha…. NO. Damn humidity me into a big indigo chaffed mutha
-
Finished up the marathon weekend. It was painfully slow at times, but I stayed with a friend who was running their first marathon so it wasn't about time anyway.
Yep, rode a roller coaster mid race.
-
Canyonlands Half Marathon in Moab. It was a little cold today, but the scenery was out of this world.
-
@llvlaglne , We run a short 5k each Thanksgiving. I'll probably hang with my 10yo as I'm nursing an injured foot/achilles.
What about you?
-
@summ3rhays - a local 5 miler tomorrow. it'll be around 29degrees and we're expecting about 6" of snow so it'll be fun. i take photos and post tomorrow.
what happened to your foot/achilles?
-
@llvlaglne, Sounds like fun. Can't wait to see the pics. The weather here has been all over the place. It snowed yesterday and is 58F and sunny today.
It's hard to say what I did. Probably a culmination of a few things. I ran a 1/2 in August in a new pair of shoes, Muay Thai seminar and long hike in the same weekend. Then I didn't let it rest and it's gotten worse. I ran a marathon in October and felt good through 19 then had to favor it while I walk ran the rest of the way. Since then I've had to limit runs, jumps, and really anything where I push off. It sucks. I thought it was plantar faciatis, but the symptoms don't quite match. Injuries suck, but I think I'm about 85% back.

The day started off well. woke up, had a black guy(coffee + espresso just so yall don't get it twisted ya dig). But all of a sudden i had tons of gas and my stomach kept bubbling. i knew i was going to be off to a bad start. i thought perhaps maybe i can hold it off after the race, but than took a second take and thought to myself… i wouldnt want to carry that around the whole race. what happens if i shart? it'll be trapped inside of my tights. i ran into the bathroom instead. dropped and did a quick wipe and left for the race. i was already late and was going to arrive with only 7minutes to spare from the start of the race.
on the way there, cop cars blocking every possible quick route i could've taken. closed due to the race course. i appreciate that they're creating a safe environment for this race but its causing all of us who were late like myself to bottleneck and funnel into the only entrance into the park. upon arrival, didnt have much time to stretch, mobilize and warm up.
national anthem was sung, and just as usual.... i had the sudden urge to pee. we were about to start and i told myself screw it. i turned to my left towards the trees, only a few yards from the crowd, untied my tights and went. a random participant asked me if i couldnt go a little further into trees and bushes. i laughed it off with him and told him, "sir, im pretty sure all the guys here have the same amount of parts as i do."
air horn goes off
1st mile - pretty much a slow steep ascent. lots of folks already huffing and puffing. pace- 10:57
2nd mile - rolling hills- pace - 10:04
3rd mile - rolling hills - pace - 10:47
4th mile - flat - pace - 9:55
5th mile - flat - pace - 9:21i wasnt sure what to expect this morning since it just had snowed the day before. just to be careful i brought my new balance mt110s. lo and behold it was wet and puddles everywhere, 29 degrees and towards the end it began to snow again. it made for a fun race. there was one participant who was brave enough start and finish using a pogo stick lol. great stuff. however best outfit goes to this trio- 2 were wearing giant turkey suits and the 3rd was dressed as a pilgrim with a knife. fun day

Sounds like a great adventure. There is always something that makes it more interesting, traffic, stomach, conditions. You just never know.
-
@summ3rhays it was fun i'll say that much, we'll see if i do any of the Christmas races.
by the way, have you heard of Dr. Kelly Starrett?(ie mobilitywod and/or supple leopard)
-
I've heard of the supple leopard. It's on my list of books to pick up. I'll check out ready to run too. Thanks for the tip @llvlaglne !
@Giles , I bet the Supple leopard would help swimmers as much as any athlete.
