I moved out of London today, on a very heavily loaded motorbike. I stopped off in Richmond to post a few letters and saw my bike's sexier little sister.
The R1200R is a lot dowdier, but (as you can see in the photo) you can strap panniers and an enormous bag to it, and it'll still behave. It's a highly capable machine, and I sat in sixth gear at around the speed limit (70 mph / 120 km/h) all the way up, and despite the added weight, it didn't miss a beat.
The fuel gauge is a different matter. I had it fixed a few weeks back, and it's gone again.
The ride up wasn't entirely fun. When I set out it was 3 degrees Celsius (37 degrees Fahrenheit), and didn't get much about 8 degrees Celsius (46 degrees Fahrenheit). Plus it started to rain towards the end. I covered around 260 miles (420 km), and arrived here just after dark, in the rain. I felt pretty wiped out, naked bikes are not good in this sort of weather.
But heated grips FTW! The side panels also warmed up from the engine, and kept my legs toasty if I squeezed the bike.

where have you moved to if you dont want to say its ok

well cant say i blame you nice and sunny …good luck

Best of luck on the move @Graeme. I agree that heated grips are a lifesaver.

Record high temperatures have been nice. Each day I think it's the last possible ride of the year. A quick attachment of the GoPro to the passenger peg after work Friday.
thats just taunting us poor brits who are riding in 4 degrees allthough with wind chill it feels like -15

@Bluegrass most of my IH gear is in a crate heading to Australia. Reports that the ship is listing are somewhat exaggerated…

This definitely is not the norm. It's usually a lot colder and with snow. I'll take it. Skiing can wait a few more weeks

Man I'm sorry Graeme. Be sure to get something nice to lessen the sting.

I'm about to relocate to Australia, so the next bike is probably going to be a few months away. I need to get out there and get sorted first.
Not sure what the next one will be. The new watercooled R1200R looks sweet, but the ergonomics didn't seem to quite work for me. I'd need to take another look to be sure.
The Aerial Ace is really cool…

Sorry for the X-Post…
Sorry for the cross post...
Haraki and I are feeling pretty pleased with ourselves.
We have been selected by Yamaha as the first ever non custom bike builder to be involved in their European "Yard Built" initiative.

We will be giving the Iron Heart "Yard Built" spin to an XJR1300:

We selected the bike today.
Feeling like a couple of kids let loose in a sweetshop, starts to describe what we feel like.....
We are allowed to keep the bike at the end of the project. The only issue to be resolved is whether that is Haraki or me....

So cool. Being able to keep the bike at the end of it is awesome. Can't wait to see lots and lots of photos.
