IH-634-UHR - Ultra Heavy - Straight Cut Jean
-
I just wore all my UHRs (1955, 666 and 634) without washing/shrinking them first. The waistband loosens up and the roominess at the hip section disappears quickly. Just remember Giles' warning that the denim is so course it could cut through the stitching. There is no sign of this happening on any of mine, which have been cold water machine washed every few months or sooner if necessary. I love them!

Might very well do that @mahlon321 , one soak and be done with it! Thanks indeed
A second pair for a slimmer fit is a GRAND idea in my experience…. I found that I have a clear use for both relaxed and slim fits depending on the jacket I'm wearing (my 666's tend to look a bit puny with some of my bulkier jackets - that's why I forked out the cash for these 634s!).....AND this denim is certainly worth a repeat purchase IMOWoah @jeansman all 3 cuts in UHRs? Way to go man! (evidently, your forum name is no overstatement )
I did just that yesterday at home: I wore them without a belt and noticed that the waist did become more comfortable after a just couple of hours.. Very encouraging indeed. I'll do that I few more times before finally soaking to hopefully lessen the after-soak tightness and brutality.. Really appreciate the advice -
@zatenm Thanks. My name may indeed be an understatement!

Love the roping on the hems and the leg twist.

Thank you gentlemen @mahlon321 and @Filthy25ozJunkie
I can't say enough about this denim…......
These are the 666s version, I just noticed I posted in the wrong thread, was drunk last night [emoji52] (Apologies mods!) -
@Sam:
I was going to say! @zatenm I only just sent those 634's to you! They don't fade that quickly. :p
LOL I'm the Flash secretly @Sam [emoji16]
I'm a crap fader [emoji4] Wore this pair for more or less 14 months, machine-washed every 2 months on average…. I knew these fade quite easily and with great contrast so I was OK with washing frequently. I figured I might get more of an old-school fade quicker than usual - just need to wear them more......[emoji106] -
Hello!
Recently picked up a pair of these from another forum member here (great guy - Adam), and really love the feel of these. Still a bit crunchy so I'm doing my part to try and soften them up with some wear. I will add some fit pics but in the meantime, I'm wondering if the lower portion of the jeans (knee to end of leg) will relax with wear of if I need to taper? Hard to tell given you have no pictures to reference but comparing my fit to that of the one posted by Sam:
- From the knee down, my denim has quite a bit of room. Not boot cut but it feels roomier than your standard straight cut.
I believe Adam hot soaked these twice but didn't wear much. The denim still feels "new" in that it's pretty stiff and pretty hairy. So wondering if there is still some stiffness in the denim that prevents it from hanging normally. Wondering if anyone had a similar experience where the fit over time, became more streamlined as the denim wore in.
Also, not sure if Sam is 6.9' but I've rarely had any IH hang as well brand new, as Sam's pics. I'm 5'9 and a pretty off the rack size 30. I feel like I'm wearing parachute pants with this pair. They fit perfectly in the waist and length is good.
Take care,
KS

Hot soaked twice, worn for three days, so they are still crispy as feck.
The way they drape today is not how they will drape next month. What I do to get the creases going so that they form to my body is to pull them up from the bottom towards my knee so that I can start to crease them. I scrunch them up real close together and then let them back down. Here's a pic (excuse the socks, I'm in the studio workin):
This way at least they will have some shape to them so that they aren't just a straight cylinder from the knee down. As the stacks form and the denim softens it will get better, but this is 23 oz, so it's never gonna be like lesser jeans, it's it's own beast Do not taper, that is sacrilege! Your impression of the fit will change from what it is now.
And that is the patch I'm gonna send you, look ok??

Those look amaze.

Woah, agreed! Thanks for sharing @adam313
These will be my primary pair, can't wait to seeing them age [emoji4]Getting a second, 634 version, pair in this denim turned out to be a great decision..probably my best jeans purchase so far. It took me a while to discover it but I think I'm a 634 guy - best fitting cut on me and the denim is just incredible….[emoji108]

Hello!
I recognize the answer to this question will vary based on individual wear patterns but… does anyone have a decent guess on how long it takes for this denim to "relax"? I've been wearing my pair for the past 9 days, and love them. No washing, no soaking, just wearing. The denim is getting a bit less rigid but hard to tell how long until the denim hangs more naturally. Still sticks out in odd places (hips/butt) but feels less like a burlap sack than the first day I put them on. They can still stand on their own but with a bit more balancing effort than pre-wear.
Is this an issue that can be resolved by soaking or is this one of those "wear it and have faith" type of situations?
Love these.
