Fanboy day.

Where the hell is @Seul lately? I'd love to see an update from him, his pair is one of the best on the forum. Someone needs to kidnap him from the beer thread.

Ya know…. im hesitant to post, as how many dozens/hundreds of these have been worn and retired. at the same time, im excited in that these are my first set of beauxtique (cajun for boutique) dungarees and only ones within the circles i travel. so i ask, weekly or monthly pics cool or keep em to myself?
another question is... because i've never worn cuffs in anything but dress/suit slacks... should i have em hemmed? i wear IR's and cowboy boots primarily but also flip flops and keen sandles - coupled with me being a husky dude, if that makes a difference. thanks in advance for your feedback.

I say cuff em or stack em. (But do whatever is comfortable for you) and post a lot [emoji51]

Post all the time in WAYWT Thread! Post weekly/monthly or so in this thread as they evolve. We want pics, doesn't matter what type, just pics pics pics, whenever you want, the more content the better for everyone!
I do not cuff, so I say hem. But that's it's own can of worms with this denim because depending on how closely/tightly they fit around your knees, you will have to account for that extra length before you hem. It's not anything like hemming a pair of dress pants. For dress pants, my inseam would be 29-30". It is much different with heavy denim if you want to get it just right. I wear IH denim in size 28-30. For my size 28" XHS, which fit very snug around my knees for example, I hemmed them to 33". I am 5'7"ish. That extra length is necessary because once the creases start forming around the knees, the denim eats up inches due to the folds and the thick fabric. This is much less necessary with looser fits or lighter denim. With my size 30" 814's for example, which is a much looser fit and much lighter denim, I need to hem these to 31", probably 30.5" for a neat and proper fit. I made the mistake of hemming to 32" with my pair of 814's and they have always felt slightly too long.
Keep talking, keep asking, keep posting
I don't cuff because I feel that it changes how well the thick denim drapes and moves for me personally. And I don't like the premature wear on the cuffs.

They look great!! How much wear do they get per year?

Out of the 1,460 days since I bought them, I would say these have been worn at least 1,000 days.
These are my "art jeans" now, so I subject them to the heaviest wear of all. They are indestructible. The hem looks ragged (and I have just trimmed the extras away so they look much neater now), but all those threads are from the very bottom, not up near the actual chainstitch. The hem stitching is still totally intact. I had them hemmed again by my tailor with a "lock-stitch" over-top-of the chain-stitch, so it wouldn't unravel, and they have held up beautifully for years and years. Two small repairs in the crotch to date, nothing else. I send all my jeans to self-edge at the first sign of a hole forming, so the repairs are tiny, and have held up perfectly.
Lots of soaks and washes. Never tumbled.

That's awesome man! It looks like they have many more years of life left in them! Can't wait to see mine after 4 years!

no doubt! those look great! yep. need to get mine hemmed.

Bear in mind that these will evolve into a more natural stack. There are ways to secure the best creases/fit (wearing when slightly damp after soaking/washing (but even then you must be careful still even further with the buttonhole stitching because they can get damaged with the abrasion and the button and being new and new-ish, so be aware), knee/hem-stack scrunching when putting on shoes, particular storage/folding/never folding etc.) but it depends how much attention you want to give it 8):-X
This is how they look new in 01/12:
This is at 6 months:
Beat it on down the line, 1.5years:

Haha @denimeric, just what a wife would say to a denimhead husband. I know so well what you mean, except for the lack of a wife…..
So I produce the occasional feeling weird and somewhat guilty about loving the denim feel so much myself.....but enjoying it the other 99,5% of the time with no remorse -
My wife just told me to stop stroking my own ass… :-[, it's just that this denim feels so good…she doesn't understand.... I love this jeans.
[/quote]And since it won't make sense otherwise, here's the quote I was referring to….
