hi @Bluegrass
on the product fotos in the (IH web-)shop the jacket looks light blue and not so pretty dark blue-blackish like
on your pics. how is the real thing? -
@Carazow it's def. a darker color blue. The jelt denim is like nothing I've experienced with IH - lightweight, very smooth tight weave, really soft and a nice drape. Also very resistant to wrinkles if you care about such things - came out of the blue bag and shook it and good to go, no creases no nothing. @Giles is this fabric made like the old Lee jelt denim that is supposedly very rip-resistant? I'm curious about the history and how this fabric is made, and if IH has used it before in other articles of clothing?
Anyway it's hard to capture good color with iPhone and the light effects it too. But I think it's a very handsome fabric though I am surely biased.

How does it feel across the shoulder? One thing that I like and look for with sack coats is that the shoulder measurements are generous which makes the jacket fall naturally and helps mobility (like MF's coats). These do measure wider than typical IH coats which I am liking. Since you have both, can you draw any comparison in this regard?
-
Nvm, there aren't any larges anyway Probably better for me atm!
-
For the record - it is very generous across the shoulders, about 2" more than the usual XXXL (22' vs. 20" is the norm). It fits well over a heavyweight shirt or light jacket. I wore it over my MF Map Shirt today - it was about 40 degrees f. Maybe next time, if there is a restock ;).

Yes, it's made the same way as the old Lee Jelt denim.
@Sam - please check colour in pics

i looked at the pics on the site again and it looks pretty dark in the pics… MY pics are more washed out looking in retrospect. Bottom line though it's a nice deep dark blue imo.
Out of curiosity I googled jelt denim - from Denim Hunters: "Lee started using their exclusive Jelt denim for their denim garments from 1925 onwards. It was an 11.5 oz. denim but had the quality of a 13 oz. fabric due to its tight construction and twisted yarn."

Hey @Bluegrass
I've been checking the colours on a lot of the products recently to makes sure they match the real thing. It's so tricky with all the different colour temperatures in the office. I think i got it pretty much dead on. It's interesting to know how it looks on other people's screens but i know the Mac i do the editing on is colour balanced for our cameras. Glad to hear you're enjoying the jacket.
