Received my two Mark Joiner buckles today…. freakin AWESOME. Holy crap! And the hardware is small and won't even rub against my skin so no rash which is a major plus. Thanks for suggesting him Dchill!

Ive been busy and haven't taken the time to switch over these buckles yet… turns out the hardware on these things wont accommodate my tanner belts because the metal loop that swings down that you slide the belt through tapers inward up towards the buckle so... its too tight a fit. Won't even insert past an inch or so. I spoke to the guy that created them and he said he had some ideas that would work, but i havent heard back from him in awhile now.. he told me he has to keep going out of town (my buckles even initially shipped way way later than they were supposed to)
Does anyone have experience making modification to belt buckle hardware? I feel like if i got some pliers and pulled that little swing bar apart and put a bigger one on it, they would be fine? But i dont really know how to do it or a good place to get the parts?

Hello, I have a good belt that I would lke to change the buckle for something slimmer and more simple, garrison style, the buckle I have now ia garrison as well but pretty shiny and sort of big. Does anyne know a place to buy good quality buckles on the web? I been looking but I only find suppliers for shops
Thanks a lot

Ask James at obbigoodlabel. The ydisplay their buckles in the onlineshop. Maybe try hollows leather goods, they got nice buckles too.

I like this one:

Can't afford it at the moment though.

Just some leather-oil, colorless, or something like saddlebalm. Or beeswax.
Note. This will immediatelly darken the belt.
I have reingrease, natural and black, and saddlebalm to take care of my boots, leather jackets etc. For natural belt I'd use saddlebalm. ( I don't have beeswax at the moment)

obenauf's leather, Red Wink Mink Oil or red Wing Boot Oil work very well for a patina.

On buckles I would search 1940's to 60's champion rodeo belt buckles, they are usually hand made and gold gilt and pretty special, otherwise I'd go for a basic retangle type buckle seen on J24 Buco biker jackets - all on ebay vintage mens accessories - hope this helps. Simonc

all of my belts/buckles come from thrift stores, flea markets, antique/junk shops. i look through old belts and try to find old brass buckles and stuff like that.

Great source. I've been looking for that exact buckle for some time, but hadn't tried eBay. I've got some 13-15 oz. cowhide I'm going to use for a new belt. Pics to follow…

Well, they're not garrison style, but Tanner Goods sells some nice and simple buckles, you could try there. If you are willing to go (much) higher in price, First Arrows sells some really lovely buckles, including a garrison style one. Finally, I bought one from metalogical on Etsy. If you have something particular in mind, Etsy is a good place to find interesting stuff, and you can sometimes get the sellers to custom make you a piece.
