Eyeglasses / Sunglasses Discussion

People love to hate on the new Oliver Peoples and I will agree that the new Italian/Lux made glasses aren't quite as good as the old ones were.
…I noticed that a lot of the high end eyeglass shops kept selling OP after it got sold to Lux.
My dealer usually takes brands off the shelf if the quality goes down, so I asked the owner why they keep OP in their offer?
He told me that the majority of OP's frames are now produced in Italy, but not in Lux's regular factory. They are produced in a separate factory with higher quality standards - at least that's what they have been told and as long as the quality is not slipping they go along with it…(Cuttler & Gross are also made in Italy - in their own Italian factory.)

That would make sense. The Italian OP glasses I have are not quite as nice as the Japanese ones I have, but are still miles better than the Italian Lux glasses I have tried on. Plus, the glass lenses that certain OP models used I know for sure are still used only for their glasses. Definitely some of the best lenses in the world.
I'm not saying they are still the best, but they aren't as bad as what a lot of people say. (Though the Japanese ones are still very near the top IMO)

Hello everybody,
Meanwhile, I'm an old geezer and need some optical aid … meant - I must purchase eyeglasses. ::)
After some brainstorming, my current favourite reading glasses would be these ->Ray Ban RX7014 / black
lightweight, smart and old school
Any other ideas / suggestions?
No magnifiers, spyglasses, diving goggles, etc. .. please –- Cheers! -

I normally go for wayfarer shapes for sunglasses, work very well for my shape and look. Aviators work too, but just not that fond of them.
Of all companies, maybe because of the Italian roots, I always LOVE Persol but own none as I am picky. I am hoping my recent purchase gets me a pair I will love. They should be dead on to what I like nowadays and the price was fair for authentic Persols.
