Finally got around to watching The Big Short. I heard lots of good things about this one, and it was still better than I expected.

would've totally helped the finance law unit i was taking last semester…

Hey @PattyCakez watch Margot in the bath tub and see if you can see the shocking editing mistake. If you can take your eyes off her…

The unfillable Champagne flute!

Watched Suicide Squad today and thought it was great, best movie in the genre since Guardians. The critics have screwed the pooch on this one, it's fun!
-
After days of deliberation, I went and saw Suicide Squad…
Like Mega said, it's fun but far from being a favourite of mine... I enjoy the MCU too much.

Comic book wise I have always been DC over Marvel, but I can't deny that Marvel have a much more developed cinematic universe. I find that with the Marvel films they are either great (Iron Man, Winter Soldier, first Avengers movie) or utter rubbish ( Iron Man 3, Avengers 2, Thor 2).
DC movies (so far) I think are trying to capture something which translates well in comic book form, but for the cinema just seems like a lofty vision which has just missed the mark due to poor scripting or editing.
-
DC seem to struggle with the concept of a cinematic universe.
It's like they lack confidence in their films to set a long-term plot line… They did reshoot Suicide Squad.
-
They didn't reshoot it, but they did some 'reshoots'. The vast majority of films will wrap and then do some more filming before release.
-
Reshoot, to shoot (a film, scene, photograph) again… Putting an 's' on the end doesn't change the meaning, just denotes plural.
Regardless of whether majority of films reshoot post production, there was controversy as to why David Ayer went back to certain scenes...
That mixed with Ayer supposedly having only six weeks to write the script doesn't instill much faith in DC's direction.

Hey, I'm just some idiot who works in the film industry. What would I know?

There were rumours that Warner Bros. produced two edits of Suicide Squad. The first was supervised by David Ayers, the director. The second was done by the company who put together the Bohemian Rhapsody and Ballroom Blitz trailers, and was the one shown in cinemas.
Ayers's cut is supposed to be a bit darker and more sombre. Maybe it'll turn up on a DVD at some point.
There's not necessarily a problem with reshoots. Fury Road apparently had a fair amount done, and that turned out OK. Extensive reworking of a film might indicate issues, especially when there's studio interference. Rogue One is rumoured to be a victim of this.
I think that Dylan's right when he brings up limited preparation time. These movies tend to have a date announced before production begins, and often an aggressive schedule.
I went to see League of Gods today, which is a strange, Chinese Kung Fu fantasy film. I'm not sure it really made that much sense, but it looks pretty.
-
^It certainly looks… interesting at the very least.

Went to the theater and watched the new Star Trek. Meh. Lots of action, not much plot, even less character development.
Sat on the couch and watched The Man From U.N.C.L.E. Fun, but forgettable. Guy Ritchie movies have a certain sameness to them.
