Viberg

First pair of engineer boots, Viberg Hopper made with aged bark leather.
These were part of a GMTO through Styleforum and they came out very nicely.
I went with a size 12, the right boot is a little big but I think it will settle with some wear.
Glad to finally have a pair of engineer boots, perfect timing for the fall!

Well done Broark . Sharp as hell mate .

I am sure some of you guys are aware, but for anyone who's not, there is a GMTO underway over on the Styleforum Viberg board. (Assume it's okay to post this here..? If not, feel free to take down.) The main build being discussed is the "Millwright Boot." It will look like this pic, but with lighter "Crust" cxl (tanned, but not dyed or finished, so fairly matte in apearance).

Having an acronymbolism. Whats GMTO?

Group Made To Order.
Multiple buyers purchase a special build. Minimum varies, depending on manufacturer, but usually about six to ten pairs.

Why do the viberg 8 inch engineer boots have what looks like a nicole plateted rivet behind all the buckles, also do they or any one else replace staps they look to short on the viberg engineers.
-
Those look really nice @Engineer. I keep on thinking of excuses not to get a pair… :o
@Graeme I think I've owned 9 pairs of Vibergs over the last couple of years. I currently own two pairs, both of which are 2040 derby boots. I had fit/comfort issues with all of the other boots. In my opinion, the derby boots are Viberg's dark-horse, so to speak. The 2040 last works really well with my feet, since I have narrow heels and a wide forefoot.
Some people think the 2040 last is shapeless and "blobby," but they're still better looking than a majority of casual boots. I think you'd be very satisfied with them, as long as the fit is good. I wear a Viberg 9, and I'm a 9.5 US on the brannock.

I'm wanting to try the 2040 last for the same reasons, namely a wide forefoot, narrow heel.
I suspect that the 1035 might work for me too, since the 2030 fits around the heel, but crushes my toes. The 1035 looks like it's got a wider toe-box, but I haven't found a pair to try on.
The curse of size 13 feet is that they're not a standard size, so buying Vibergs can be a bit of a luck of the draw.
I'm holding off on ordering a pair of the Derby boots whilst I wait and see what comes up in the Styleforum GMTO that's underway.

I like the Hoppers, but the sizing isn't 100%.
With thin socks, they slop around on my feet. With thick socks they fit fine, but there's a little pressure on the inside of the tip of my big toes. This doesn't cause any problems, and I've had days when I've walked ten miles in them.
They're currently in Australia, and I'm in the UK for the next few weeks, so they're not getting much wear right now.
