IH-634S - 21oz Selvedge Denim Straight Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
Hi all, new to IH but I decided to start with this model as the signature jean before I start wandering into other fits/cuts/weights/styles/etc. Since I'm coming from a lifetime of wearing $40 jeans this was quite the step up. The 21oz is just ridiculous but it is starting to succumb to my will and I am beginning to understand why people say they are so comfortable. I look forward to getting MUCH use out of these.
And those $40 pairs just went in the donation bag.

@Manticore just wait until you wear them for like 6 months. They get unbelievably soft. I also like the iridescent sheen the denim has in the sun.

Thanks. They are already starting to get softer so i can't to get more time in them. I actually just dropped them off at SELA yesterday to get hemmed so eagerly waiting for them to be finished.

Since it was Wednesday and I was very happy to have my new Red Wing 8886's on and my 634 as well. Plus I havent really posted a picture pic yet.

Do those stretch a bit? I just got my first pair (usually wear the 1955S) and they're definitely a tad tight in the thighs.
They have some good give in them, but not too much that they become baggy. For me, after the first few hours after a wash they settle back in nicely. They are by far my favourite jeans I have ever owned.

These were my first IH product which I purchased nearly three years ago. They have been essentially the only jean I have worn, and ball parking I'd say they've had approximately 400 wear days maybe more. Each cuff has been repaired by SE since. When I bought them I told myself I'd be dedicated to them until they faded; I managed to hold out until that yenim came along

Hey everyone,
New here, after deciding to purchase the IH-634S.I have dealt mostly with various LVC 501's. As they are unsanforized, initial hot soaks were a must. Now I'm about to purchase these sanforized Iron Hearts.
Most posts I have read state, "No need to soak. Just go ahead and wear them."I had always thought initial soaks were only beneficial for the longevity of your denim regardless of whether they are sanforized or not.
Is there anyone with experience of trying out a pair straight and later trying out a new pair after an initial soak?
If there have already been numerous discussions regarding this, I'm sorry. Maybe someone can link me.
Thanks. -
Excellent purchase!
It depends on a few things:
-How loose/tight the fit is around your knees. If it is loose, they will take some time to set (with daily wear, a few days, with intermittent wear a bit longer), and there won't be as much length eaten up by the creases because there won't be as many due to the loose fit. If the fit is relatively tight, they will set quicker and eat up more length. I usually hem ~2" above my dress inseam with a snug fit around my knees, some stacking at the hems and no cuff.
-You can speed up the creasing by either soaking the jeans briefly and then putting on while still slightly damp or just spraying the back of your knees with water and doing some crouches or movements to get the knee combs going…That should take up all possible length from combs/creases so you can choose the best length to hem.
Edit: Giles always gets there first. Apologies for the redundancy..
