How to safely wash your Iron Hearts with a bar of Fels Naptha soap
-
@Brock I'm interested to know what you thought of the smell of the soap. I think it smells okay, and one guy says it stinks… what did you think?
-
It Didn't bother me at all… I sorta liked the smell. It's different tho

Yeah, and it's gone after a day or so.

Interesting thread, thanks gents.
I currently either rinse my denim with lukewarm water in the shower if only a quick rinse is needed or a soak in the bath with mild soap.
Straightening out and hanging to dry is key for me. -
Do you do that whilst wearing them? I've read Fanya washes his in the shower too. And I wonder if that means while they are being worn…
I'd do that but my jeans are always really dirty and smelly.
-
No, not while wearing them. Usually light soiling mud, dust maybe some food and drink especially if one of my young kids sits on me to eat!
I use the pressure from the shower head to wash dirt off. I dont usually get too much bleeding, like you do if you soak for a while.

Does hand washing eliminate the creases on the back leg?

Are you referring to the honeycombs or are you referring to the creasing you can get from machine washing?

Honey comb

If anything it helps keep the creases consistent.

Guys,
I have a question. According to IH, the 25oz should soak or wash before use . Attached instructions for XHSWhat do you guys do? I have yet to soak or wash and it has been good three weeks now. Am I doing something wrong ? Should I soak or wash?
Honestly I ignored the instruction upon jeans arrival. Last night I read and little confused .

@Filthy25ozJunkie:
Also, I should add about the 25 oz xhs… I've found through experimentation over 4 pairs that if you soak them and they feel like sandpaper when they've dried, you've not gotten all the sizing out of the fabric. It isn't until about the 3rd soak do you get all the sizing out of the denim and it thickens up and gets a soft hand.
You can use this to your advantage though if you want very angular and high contrast honeycombs and creases. The sizing helps the staying power of the creases.
It's not necessary to soak. But read above.

Mine have never touched water and I've owned them for a good while now.

I gave these bad boys another wash today while I drank about a half a gallon of milk and ate a whole row of Mega Stuft Oreo cookies. It seems I'm able to get about 3-4 months of every day wear of a pair before I want to wash them. These were really dirty so I did 2 washes and 3 rinses. I gave the top block a thorough scrubbing on the inside with a whole bar as in between the washes.
I'm going to Saudi Arabia for a while so it will be nice these not being ripe in the heat. I've been really busy with work so I apologize for my absence from the forum.
