Watches - another OCD problem
-
If i didnt had a marriage to pay for id buy a pinion watch right now. I dont like watches in general but they look so great. Cant stop looking at them.
-
I agree! I was more thinking of modern-day rolex watches and budget friendliness for Finn666.
thanks rocket. the moment i saw the strap, i knew it was the one. i have another camo, like woodland camo but it didn't quite fit compared to this sand camo..
well come on QM, the best looking sub has to be a red sub..
anyway, a random questions guys, thoughts on rolex servicing? it just crossed my mind that i haven't serviced it once since 4 years ago, or maybe i had just once..

This little Frenchie wouldn't stop chewing my Panerai. Total cutie.
I had to pull my wife away because she was about to by that bulldog puppy in the back. He was awe$ome, but simple rule: people must out number the animals

curiously as i thought of it the other day, i haven't serviced my rolex since i got it 4 years ago..
what are your thoughts on servicing guys? maybe @Tempvs too.. i'd love to hear what you think..

It's Only Watch time again! If you want to buy a unique timepiece that not even @Tempvs owns, and support a charity, here's your chance.
This Patek Philippe will sell for a huge amount. It's a one-off in titanium, which is a metal that they rarely use.
Last time a retro Tudor Black Bay sold for CHF 375,000. This time it's a Black Bay Bronze with a trip to the factory thrown in. It'll probably be expensive…
There's a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Mil-Spec for @Giles to covet. I'm not sure if there's much different to the standard watch.
Hautlence have made a mechanical wrist pinball game. It's completely pointless, and I love it.
Montblanc are offering a green and bronze version of their Minerva chronograph. I like this a lot, and it'll look great once the case gets a patina.
There's a lot of other stuff in the list of watches. The FP Journe and MB&F are really nice, but I need to win the lottery first. The Fabergé chronograph and Hermès are slightly leftfield.
Lastly, there's a collaboration between Laurent Ferrier and Urwerk. No details, yet, but I suspect it'll be the most interesting piece in the auction.

Does anyone know where I can get a 'Pepsi bezel' (just the bezel) from? If I go through a Rolex dealer, they will send it back to Rolex and they will only fit the bezel that was fitted from new (which in my case was the black and red one), Oh and you have to have it serviced with them as part of fitting a new bezel at a cost of approx £500
I've got a 1985 GMT and always fancied the Pepsi bezel.
-
^ I bought a non-Rolex approved Pepsi bezel a good few years ago from eBay that was, to my eye, perfect in every detail. This was a non ceramic, metal insert that sat in the groove machined into the bezel. I simply pressed into place with pressure. I had the same issue with my old GMT Master ll that I gave to the wife. I had a few issues sorted with it and had it serviced and asked for a Pepsi bezel insert to replace the red and black insert. Rolex said no. I ended up going for an all black bezel which looks great

I lost my bezel strangely on a night out and had a new one fitted by Mappin & Webb many years ago and went for a black one. Thanks for the heads up, I'll check eBay for the 'insert'.
Snap…

Hodinkee have a week on the wrist with the new Sea-Dweller. It sounds like Ben Clymer is impressed with the watch technically, but it isn't something that he'd go out and buy.
I've embedded the video, and there's more information and history in the article itself.

Try chrono24 or a shop that sells used/vintage Rolex…they typically have spare parts.

Unless you are abusing your watch I wouldn’t bother. Rolex make robust i.e. uncomplicated movements v. the likes of Patek et al. which are like a fine instrument.
YMMV, but I have yet to have any of my watches serviced.

The Patek Philippe 5522A Limited Edition Pilot's Calatrava has just been announced at Hodinkee.
It's got a 42mm steel case, no date window, and is a limited edition of 600 pieces. It'll retail for $21,547, and is available in the US market only. It's considered a variant of the 5524G, albeit without the travel time complication.
I like it a lot. Well made, three-handed watches in non-precious metal cases are very much what I'm into.

More watch porn!
This is the Laurent Ferrier x Urwerk piece unique that will be sold in the Only Watch auction in November. The two brands have very different aesthetics, and I like the combination of the two.
It's called the Arpal One, after the alloy it's manufactured from, and the case was designed by Ferrier. The movement is from the Urwerk 105 series, and is a self-winding automatic.
I've no idea what it'll go for. Probably over CHF 100,000. I need to win the lottery. Again.
More details at Only Watch, Urwerk, and Monochrome Watches. (The last link has the best description.)

That Calatrava Pilot would be the perfect every day watch. Nice job PP.

I know @Anesthetist. I really like it too as a "beater"!
Now I just need to find $20K down the back of my sofa.
