Our Cars (dream or actual)
-
Got very lucky with the weather at Bedford last Monday. It was an open pit and I took my friend along with his F-Type.
Track time only cost £99 for the whole day, but the M3 guzzled an easy £80 of super unleaded by lunch.

@den1mhead every time i see the tagged notification i get excited
HOLY F**K! ??? ???
great numbers. good curve too.. when do you get to drive it?
-
@louisbosco I know that number is incredible and is AWHP. The guys are trying to set the Syvecs ECU to work with the existing SI drive button in the car, rather than add another 3 position calibration switch. Normally the Syvecs ECU is set up for low boost, high boost and anti-lag but anti-lag is hard on the turbos. The Syvecs guy is attempting to write new code so we can have low, med & high boost. If not it'll simply be a low & high boost map. Maybe collecting the car tomorrow [emoji41]

My new 2018 MK7 GTI. This is my third one, and I'll probably get another after this one. This GTI has 220hp and 258 lb-ft torque. This car handles so well, and is so comfortable to drive. It's a vast improvement from my 2008 with CarPlay that allows me to integrate my phone/apps, and it has tons of other creature comforts that make it one of the best cars under $30k.

Great ride seawolf - I’ve eye’d them for myself…
Anyone snag the new Carolla XSE hatch manual yet?

Two pictures and a video of our car on the dyno at SCR. Video unavailable when viewed on a phone.

After nearly seven months without our car I am excited to say that we are collecting it from Scooby Clinic Racing today.

^could they not have gone with a cobb port so that you can load multiple maps and different set ups including octane or boost differences? would've been easier using cobb to do the switch when you needed..

dad had one for rental when he came over to visit me. not sure about the exact specs and difference to the US, but it was the one with the hybrid drivetrain. pretty great handling around corners. much more power compared to the previous model even with the CVT. the pickup and accleration is slightly better with the new CVT setup..

The big question is though… Who's driving it home..... @den1mhead @Black Orchid ?
-
Congrats @seawolf! I had a modified 2010 GTI and it was a great all around car. People would be amazed at what I managed to fit in mine with the seats folded down. GTI's are such a great mix of functionality and sportiness.
The mk7's respond very well to a simple flash tune as well:

I very HEAVILY modified my MK4 and a flash tune is the best bang for your buck for performance gains. I looked into Cobb a little, and it's a 25% hp and torque increase for about $600. Incredible! I'm thinking about it, but something about keeping it bone stock is appealing at this stage in my life.
I always refer to my car as my little pickup truck because I can fit so much into it when I need to.

I drove the Subaru back from Sheffield today and what a monster the car is. The Exedy twin plate clutch took a bit of getting used to and I will admit that I stalled the car a few times. Sorted now. The SI Drive has three different maps with power limits of 350, 450 and 500 AWHP.
@louisbosco the Syvecs ECU is an amazing piece of kit that came with its own three position calibration / map switch. The guys at SCR were reluctant to mount a switch somewhere in the car so decided instead to use the SI Drive which also has three settings. It works great. A future purchase further down the line to work with the Syvecs ecu may be a Toucan Touchscreen Display, see; http://shop.scoobyclinic.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=193

Thanks man - I’ll be honest, I would have never even looked at a Carolla, but I begrudgingly was given a 2018 as a rental last weekend and by the end of 400 miles I was looking at the new ones online.
I believe the 2019 has a new (larger) engine and I’m keen on the manual option and the aggressive styling on the XSE with the big wing.

unfortunately, i don't think the 2L engine will have much difference. the 1.8L hybrid is where the difference lies. something along the lines of porsche hybrid in the 918 where the low end hybrid and top end combustion engine works together. unfortunately that hybrid drivetrain is only available with an automatic.
that said, the hybrid is the first western corolla i've driven. i can't compare the non hybrid 1.8 to the 2.0l as i've never driven the old 1.8l. dad's corolla in singapore (yes a corolla that costs more than an c63 amg) is a 1.6l and it's an absolute hell (bad CVT tuning i'm guessing) just trying to pick up speed..
-
@den1mhead i can't say i've heard much about that ECU. but i suppose it's something that's been quite prevalent with SCR and they've been using them a lot on the cars they work on.. the couple that i'm more familiar with are cobb and haltech..
are you gonna be at the IH forum 10th anniversary this year?

. . . . . . are you gonna be at the IH forum 10th anniversary this year?
Oh yes @louisbosco we will be in attendance as well as the Subaru. Fancy a spin in it?

@den1mhead oh.. i think you've just sold me on this trip now…
i've been thinking of making the trip. but i haven't confirmed anything so far as my next 6 months is pretty unpredictable at the moment.. -
You can haul a lot of wood in an E63 AMG wagon
