Photograph and Camera talk

I’d be interested in friendly photo assignments @Sam . I’m quite limited in photography subjects which interest me so this would be a welcome push towards more variety.

@goosehd I'm bringing out the cliches but "limitations breeds creativity" This year I've really taken to using fixed-length lenses on my shoots with IH. Lately, I've been using the 24mm and it's got me results I definitely wouldn't have achieved with the 28-300mm that I've been using before. I find it makes me move myself more to get the right framing I want… once again with the quotes, "If your photos are good enough, you're not getting close enough" Robert Capa.
@motojobobo Maybe we can all take turns in suggesting a theme or subject matter which will help gets us out of our comfort zones. What sort of things do you like to shoot normally?
@Jett129 You're Iron Heart through and through Cool, I think a month is good. Gives people time to get round to shooting and reshooting if needed but also editing. I find I've become lazy at editing my own images because I spend most of my working life editing. I've got a tonne of images I've taken over the summer that are just sat on memory cards.
I'll start to write up some guidelines for this idea asap and hopefully more people will get on board.
Last thought, do we exclude phone photography? I'm thinking yes but I do realise it's a more valid art form these days.

@Sam:
Hahaha @louisbosco I'm not popular here…
BTW have you heard of a YouTuber called Jamie Windsor? He made some film presets for lightroom that emulates that film you were talking about. Might be worth checking out if you're interested.
no i haven't. i tend not to use presets when dealing in lightroom. it's just an outright lazy method. understandable when you have bulk work to do, but i still prefer to tweak individually. which films was i talk about anyway? i've recently love the reincarnation of the ektachrome which i've been using very carefully.
definitely keen to see what the topics are/ will be. i tend to shoot more on holiday overseas than when at home. really keen to take the sigma 50mm art out around tokyo.. that's majority of what my style is..

Friendly Forum Photography Competition.
No entry fee!
All skill levels welcome!
No prizes… Sorry!
Just the sheer enjoyment of being made to get off your butt and take some photos! However, there’s no pressure to enter. We’ve all agreed that a month is long enough for people to take and edit their photo but I realise that people have jobs, families and other aspects of their lives that will get in the way. So, if only a few of you get round to entering I won’t be offended. I’d like to just get myself out taking photos for pleasure and if I can drag some of you with me then that’s a result.
Themes
I’m just going to list a few basic ideas here and hope that some of you will pitch in with your own ideas. It can be as broad as landscapes or as niche as Lego and If you feel like a theme needs a bit more context, just ask.
Portrait – Landscape – Wildlife – Night – Sport – Abstract – Hometown – Social – Street/Candid – Macro – Still Life – Architectural – Minimalist
Rules
There are no Rules!
Well, maybe try to keep it to new work, since that’s the point of this whole thing. Although, if you’ve got old shots you haven’t edited yet that you think will work then that should be allowed (thoughts?) Oh, and no Smartphone photos!
Winners!
I don’t know if any of the guys here (IH) look at this thread. So, my thought was to print off the entered photos and show them to the boys and Paula, without names attached, and see what the consensus is. I’m open to others opinions on this but I thought it was probably the simplest way of deciding the winner. I don’t think this is overly important though. I’m just looking forward to getting out there, taking photos and seeing what you guys come up with too. -
yeah i think old photos should be allowed. there's a whole trove of photos in library that some of us may or may not have shared and just waiting for the right moment to show them..
also, i've started to add watermarks to photos now, so i'm not sure how that'll go without names attached..

Just wanted to share a couple of night pics from our Iphone 11s. I guess I’m still in the super impressed stage since we had 6s up to a month ago.
