Rolex –- " Takes a licking and keeps on ticking"

Ouch!
Funny story: I purchased my first Rolex (Sea-dweller) from a Jeweller about 7 years ago. The sales person was telling me about how they can rebuild the watch in situations such as your's. I was new to this and asked how she knew, and she gave me the backstory.
Apparently, she caught her then boyfriend cheating on her. She took his prized possession (Rolex) and smashed the hell out of it with a hammer. I guess he sent the Rolex (what was left of it) back to the service centre for repair, and they returned a practically new watch.

Rolex have just announced the shiny, new Submariner. No doubt it'll be available soon at your local grey market dealer at twice RRP.
The case size has been bumped up to 41 mm, which has got Hodinkee readers reaching for the pitchforks to storm Rolex's HQ; the lugs have been slimmed down; and the movement is upgraded to the 3230 / 3235.
They Oyster Perpetual has also gained a couple of new 41 mm models, again with the new 3230 movement. I quite like the silver dial version.

I have always dreamed of owning a blue bezel sub - or a Pepsi.
Knowing they bumped it to 41mm is actually a plus for me, as my Sinn 41mm 104 is practically perfect sizing for me.
Not today… but maybe one day [emoji4]

blue bezels are white gold and will always cost more than the regular steel ones. they are definitely not as sought after as their steel counterparts but i do believe they have a lower production quota which makes up for the rarity of it..
i'll be interested to see if slight increase in the size makes it more desirable.. the only good news i can take from their announcement is the movement upgrade which gives a lot more in terms of power reserve..

New skeleton . . . . .

@graeme I like the 36mm Perpetuals, esp the turquoise and yellow dials. My wife likes the pink. Might need to save up for a pair…
More info needed on that good look skelly!

@Anesthetist our skelly (mine & Jules') is an ERA Prometheus Tourbillion;

@Anesthetist after seeing your Breitling, I thought that you'd moved away from smaller watches!
I like the Oyster Perpetuals with the coloured dials too. The coral red is probably my favourite.

I sold my Sub some years ago, no regrets. I passed by a PP Calatrava 3796 in white gold a few months back–-just too many rupees. But finally scored something I have wanted since it first appeared: the manual Grand Seiko 231.

That’s a very nice gift and a really interesting watch. How is the overall fit and finish?

The new ALS 175th anniversary watches. A bit out of my price range but the 1815 Rattrapante Honeygold is my favorite - a truly beautiful piece.
