Watches - another OCD problem

that is beautiful, even better in platinum.
i believe it is also one of john mayer's favourite watch and the one that started his watch collection.

That is gorgeous "Big pilot"

The big pilot has always been a grail of mine. It will happen someday, just probably not in platinum
That’s such a great watch! for the size it wears so well
I think you need it G!

Love the Big Pilot, got one when they first launched and was my first IWC. The platinum variant is magnificent, quite the wrist workout also.
Congratulations on the nuptials @Alex !

WatchBuys sadly stopped carrying Nomos and they let their straps go for a song. I put a new black cordovan w brown stitches on my 10 year old Tangente and it feels like a new watch [emoji3590]

Thank you guys, this was a really special and unexpected gift!
The watch is a re-edition of a late 50’s/early 60’s Mido Powerwind diver which was notable for its bright pastel decompression dial ring. Basically you choose your depth and follow the ring around to the minutes you’ll be underwater ( for example 9 oclock = 45 min underwater). The decompression time will be printed within that ring. More of a gimmick of course but fun and more functional than say the decompression ring that Doxa uses. Cant imagine anyone actually using it for that reason but it makes for a good conversation.
Apparently the originals are really hard to come by and go for over $6k. They also made a black dialed version which is more similar to the re-edition.
Comparison of old and new (not my own):
Hodinkee did a great write up on it and IMO it’s a fun little read. I’m really impressed she was able to nab one since they sold out so quickly! Very proud of her and super happy with it.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Picked up the new 41mm Submariner. All good so far, very comfortable and feels the same on the wrist as the maxi case 40mm it replaced.

Very nice

Very nice score on an almost unobtainable!
Did they keep the same handset on the larger case like they did w/ the 1st gen of the new Explorer I?

I'm over a year on the waiting list..I follow up every few months..every time .. yep.. not yet…

@Anesthetist I believe the hands have been changed on this new 41mm version Sub. The width of the hands have been evened up. On the previous 114060 maxi case Sub the hour hand looks to be thinner than the minute hand. The new 41mm watch looks to have evened out the width of the hour and minute hands.
@Snowy I got very lucky with this pick up. I was offered it from Wempe in London who are a Rolex AD. Generally speaking getting SS professional pieces from the London AD's is even more difficult than the smaller regional AD's.
I bought my Niessing wedding ring from Wempe and this was my only purchase with them. When the 41mm sub was announced in September I sent a very speculative e-mail expressing interest. I got an email from Wempe last week asking me if I wanted to buy the non date sub and they had one set aside for me. I was gobsmacked to be honest as like you I had been trying to get the old 114060 watch for several years with several dealers with whom I have much higher buyer profile, so for Wempe to offer me the new 41mm version within a few weeks of their release was exceptional.
