Wearing my 875 oro today
-
just picked up a pair of 8085 Iron Rangers locally for $150 today. Basically worn just long enough to break in and then they decided to sell. Loving them so far!

While I can’t wait to add a pair of Wesco engineer boots into the daily rotation, I still love my RW 8196. They’ve been beaten to hell since I bought them second hand off eBay in 2014, survived multiple trips, moves, and life events. A local cobbler gave them a proper clean up and resole and they are my go-to work boots. Complete with shoe laces I stole from a pair of Vans haha

^ Is that the RW Round Toe? Looks awesome!

They are! I tried the Iron Ranger, but just didn’t love them. The briar oil slick color sold me on the 8196 and I’ve loved how they’ve aged. At this point, it’s like wearing a pair of slippers.

^ They don't sell these anymore? When I got my pair of Chukkas, I wanted to go for the Round Toe, but could not find them.
-
Yeah, that's correct. The only two that still stand out from RW are the IR's and Moc Toe's. Everything else is not that interesting, while the other worthy models like the round toe is not available anymore.

Looking at a pair of Pecos now. How do they compare to your other Red Wings sizewise? I wear a 9D in Iron Rangers and wondering if a 9D in Pecos would be the right size. I have average narrow feet, so not worried about width.

In my experience, I fit an 11D in everything from RW (8196, oxfords, Beckman, etc) I chose something a bit wider because I’m on my feet all day and a little extra room is never a bad thing and I really like how my Blundstones fit comfort wise.

So a quick follow up: I wanted a pair primarily for work so I went with the 4470, which comes with a steel toe (I manage a retail store stock room amongst other things). I’m glad I went with E vs D because otherwise I feel like it would’ve been a little snug in the toe box. Now, it’s time to use and abuse them until the Wesco boots arrive lol

Those are beat up as hell @chbronsonx! And they look wonderful. I agree that the price and quality that comes with it is damn near unbeatable. Plus, RWs look better with age and after bring super beat up. Have a spot in mind to have them resoled, etc.? I've been seeing ppl get theirs repaired and use a thicker leather midsole (is that what it's called?) like this:
I know you can get em resoled on Redwing Berlin website, so i guess maybe in every RW shop around you ?

@SKT:
Just throwing this out to you Red Wing guys…any recommendations for a place in the US to get a resole other than Red Wing?
Where do you live? I have a great guy in Nashville, TN. Unsung House on the north side of town in Germantown, my dude Grant there does great work.

lol also just noticed that post was from 4 months ago. Anyways, still relevant info.

Looking for a pair of 10877 Moc Toe .
Are they available in Europe? ::) -
Had my Iron Ranger 8083 pimped by Ingo Keller the Schuhgott ( shoegod) Cologne/ Germany
A super nice guy and his work is definitely outstanding , maybe some of you already know him !?
My Iron Rangers got a thick leathermidsole and new nitrile soles cause I don’t like the new vibram soles.
here are a few pictures… -
@Daniel San Very nice! How’s the knee healing?
