Found a pair of Wesco 7500's to try in in 9.5D that I can try on for sizing, then return and use toward a deposit on the mister lou's. Should have those beginning of August and can report back for a point of reference for anyone who might find useful.
Well, that didn't go very well. The 9.5D is too long and too wide and also somehow too small in the toe box as it's pressing down on my toe nails. Never had any boots or shoes fit so weird. I emailed wesco for what to do next but open to any input from the collective wisdom here as well. But damn are these things beautiful. Hope I can find the right size.

It’s going to cost you bigly, but you can get your boots rebuilt by Wesco to go down in a width or up in width. I had a MP toe boss in D width once that was too narrow later rebuilt in E width. You can find them posted in this thread. It’s the Horween Horsehide one.

@pechelman what's your Brannock size? Also, do you have any other boots in the sort of Wesco realm? By that I mean just sort of big-running, similar level of quality boot/shoemakers.
-
I'm guessing you might have come across this, but maybe not — the last of the 7500 and Mr Lou runs narrow.E fits like a normal D. That'd explain what you described. They also run a little long, probably at least a half size bigger than shoes that match your Brannock size.
I have some Mr Lous in 12E. I normally wear 13s, so they're a little snug on me, but it's mainly top pressure vs length (I have a high instep). I initially tried a pair of 13s and they were too big — in a perfect world I'd have gone custom and gotten 12.5, but I didn't want to wait. I've been perfectly happy with em.
I'd try a pair half a size down from your Brannock, E width.

On the page back I posted all the info, but I'm an 11.5 Left/11.0 Right brannock but that's to my longest 2nd toe.
I'm a 9D in iron rangers and whites but don't own either because they don't fit just right for different reasons. I own two pairs of Nicks, one hot shot style 10" lace up in their 55 last in 9C. The other is a custom built Robert in the 67 last in 9.5C. They both fit great and more similar than different. I also tried on a pair of viberg supply boots in 9D that were close to working but too wide in the forefoot.I don't think going to a wider wesco is the answer unless you're saying to go smaller in length and wider at the same time? So 9.0E?
Otherwise I wear size 10 Nike and Vans, 10.5 Adidas, and 9.5 ct70s which fit snug.

Wow that's a lot of sizes!
The comments about the couple pairs running too wide in the forefoot, plus the fact that your Nick's are Cs sounds like you've got a bit of a narrow foot? Maybe the E with isn't the play, then… I'm just basing my suggestion on the fact that conventional wisdom on that last is if you normally wear a D, get an E. I've got average width feet and have always worn a D width in literally every shoe I've ever owned aside from the Mr Lous, and I feel like they fit exactly like I'd expect a D to fit.
I know White's will send you a pair to try on for sizing — will Wesco do that? Might be worth a shot emailing and asking, since most of what we'll have to offer here is personal experience mixed with some speculation.

You're spot on with the reasoning on widths and why I tried these in D to be a bit narrower. I think 9C could be closer but would work about even more toe nail crushing from the toe cap.
These are try on pairs from wesco so I'm waiting on their weekend to get back to me on their professional opinion too. Thanks for the input. Boots have always been really hard for me to fit right. I could always get a set of these made from Nicks but these Wescos are a little more appealing to me.

I think getting em really dialed will give you an absolutely fantastic pair of boots. As I said, mine aren’t even a perfect fit and they’re more comfortable than most of the boots I own.

Wesco x Ship John Derroll Boots
-
Nice one @John Galt
-
@John Galt looking good. I put an order in in February for a pair. How long did you have to wait on them?
Also at Ship John's advice, I ordered a 11.5D in them. I have a pair of bubble toe jobmasters that fit great at 12D, but they were pretty confident 11.5D was the right move. How did you size them?
-
@Tmulltuous I ordered the Derroll boots in mid-January. I am a 9.5D Brannock and an 8.5 in the Viberg 2030 & 2050. I ordered a 9E. Ship John contacted me since they sell few E widths of these and after discussing, I changed my order to a 9D. The fit is good, they fit just a tad slimmer in the body than the Mister Lou. Hope it works out for you.

My cousin dropped his boots off for a rebuild today and drug me along. He bought some natural horse hide boss boots and I ordered some foot patrols in Buffalo!

I just saw this photo on Instagram. Wild how different they become when well worn. Stoked to see what you do with yours @Brock
Yea they’re pretty rad. And that’s only after 2 years 8.5 months.
I should have got a picture of the horse boots he walked out with.
